Which way to go with light bar mounts on Gobi?

I've been trying to figure out the best way to go regarding Rigid light mounts on a Gobi Stealth, welded on by them when building the rack, or use other bracket options after production? My rack has been in order for a about three weeks now, so I'm likely nearing the point of no return with getting it changed. Trailduty has been helpful in providing after-the-fact light mount options, but if having it done the right way means at the factory, then I need to know that's the case. I plan on installing a 20" SR up front with a pair of 6" SR's, and another pair of 6" SR's on the rear of the rack. I'd basically be doing same setup as Jangoforhire without the side lights. Thoughts on brackets/mounts?

I struggled with this as well - my mind must have changed a dozen times while my rack was on order. Finally I decided just to do a long bracket with multiple mounting points. I originally was going to go with a similar setup as Jango as well. I then changed my mind and went with a 30" E2 - which I have had for almost a year. I am now about to switch that out for a single 40" SR2 - which Amazon coincidentally just delivered (I have always liked the look of RiDE's setup). As much as my mind changes, I am just glad I did not have them weld on tabs for a specific length light. Honestly though, it does not really matter - there are so many aftermarket ways to mount lights to the rack. Good luck with your decision. Look forward to seeing how it turns out.

Take it from one who bought back before they were offering them have them do it. My build thread has pics using rigid mounts but theirs will make life easier.

I asked TD if the 20" would fit on the "standard" rack and was told yes, but I'm not sure that's correct. Spending this much on a rack I want it to be correct.

Perhaps this will help. My Gobi was built to accommodate a Rigid 40" Curved Bar but the brackets that came with the rack are adjustable to fit shorter bars. My particular setup however will not allow for anything longer than my 40" bar. You can kind of see how u can adjust the width of the brackets. Only pics I have at the moment.

Just ordered my Gobi Stealth last week. Planning on mounting a 40" bar up front. The guys at TrailDuty told me it would come with mounting points. I also have 2 Rigid Dually Pods from my previous truck that I am planning on mounting out back.

That helps, thanks. Emailed Trail Duty earlier to confirm that mine will be made with the uprights wide enough to fit the 20". Doesn't seem like they want to see if Gobi will weld the mounts on, as they recommended a variety of aftermarket mounts to be used. The only benefit I see from this is the ability to be somewhat flexible down the road should I decide to go from a 20" front with 6" on each side to something like a 40". No permanent mounts to worry about, although I doubt I will change the setup once in place.

Update: [MENTION=101352]harkco[/MENTION] I heard back from Trail Duty and they are telling me that Gobi said a 20" will fit between the uprights. I'm confused. Told them that I understood it to only be ~ 17" between the uprights. Saw thst noted by a member on your thread link. Guess I'll just have to take their word for it and see what happens when it shows up. Going to be one unhappy customer if they are wrong. I will say that they have been very responsive and have provided great customer service so far (provided the data is accurate).

Rear Light Wiring

What is your plan on routing the wires from the lights mounted on the rear rack? I plan to do the same, but haven't figured out the best way to run the wire into the rear tailgate area?

I would not take their word for it. My middle light is 10" so unless they changed something no way a 20" would fit.

Thanks Philly, I talked with Trailduty again and they are making sure Gobi makes my rack to accomodate the 20" bar, and also adding built in light tabs for Rigid 6" SR's out back.

Where did you get brackets from? I want to install 3 lights as well instead of one 42" one. I got 2 8" already and I just nee to get a 14" for the middle. I'll need brackets like the ones you have in this pics. [MENTION=6163]phillyd2[/MENTION]

Details in the build thread but the brackets are from Rigid. Nice thing about not having one big light is that you can mix match types.
