Which Wilco?

For those of you with Wilco tire mounts, which one did you choose? I'm running 275s, so tire size isn't an issue, but I want to make sure I don't affect my departure angle too badly, while also not putting the tire completely in front of the rear window.

I'm pretty certain that Wilco offers a high clearance, offset hitch mount. It puts the tire over behind the driver side view. As for back up camera, we must reroute or may be SOL.

pretend you were 10 years back.. before they had backup cameras as standard lol.

True, This is my first vehicle with the camera. I gotta admit, I got used to it quickly. Makes me look like an expert when hooking up to the trailer.

Great question, also looking for that answer. Plus what are you guys doing in regards to the backup camera?

I'm waiting on my Solo High Clearance to show up, I went with that for the lighter weight and extra clearance vs the standard solo.

As far as camera goes, I have seen a lot people make it very hard and actually extend the factory camera, I went with a much simpler approach that retains the factory camera and simply adds on a cheap backup camera:

I ordered a harness that plugs in between the factory head unit and the factory camera harness which allows for the input of a standard RCA backup camera lead to go into it.

From there I will wire up a cheap-o backup camera and mount it somewhere on the hitchgate.

I will power it using a fuse-tap on the reverse fuse, that way the camera is not constantly powered on. The factory head unit knows to switch the screen to the camera input when in reverse.

This is the harness: (you can find cheaper ones this is the first link I saw to use as reference) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Axxess-AX-...ash=item54423f4b7f:g:HOUAAOSwUKxYh7ZU&vxp=mtr

Note that the factory head unit is 6V out, so you cant use the power leads on this harness (unless you get a 6V camera which is insanely expensive and hard to find), you will need to use another 12V source. be sure the cap off the leads on that new harness as to not short anything out.

All said and done the camera project will cost about 40 bucks

I really like the Wilco tire carriers but the huge gap between the tire and hatch killed it for me. I dont want to carry a Jerry Can behind the tire. Wish there was an option for less gap.

I keep going back and forth on the offset wilco for that reason. I think I've seen someone on here say they pushed the wilco further into the hitch and drilled a new hold into it (for the pin to go through). That or they ended up cutting the bar down so it didn't hit whatever stops it from going through any farther, then drilled a new hole for the pin. I don't remember exactly what they did, but the effect was that the wilco pushed closer to the rear hatch.

would love to check that out.
