Which Wire?

Haha not wanting to steal any thunder from [MENTION=85512]eddiebx[/MENTION]! (nice diagram!) Here's some I just finished too.

NOTE: I am much lazier than eddiebx and didn't include grounds or fuses assuming it's obvious where they go.

If you feel like adding something underneath that's going to draw a ton of current I would add another relay in there...

I'm wondering if it will mess with the slow fade on and fade off of the puddle lights. I have a couple of strings of LED lights that I planned to tap into the puddle lights and put along underneath my sliders but never got around to it.

Not sure how a relay would affect that circuit but just changing even one of the interior light bulbs to LED makes my interior lights go off and on more abruptly rather then the slow fade effect.

I have replaced all of the lights that "fade" with LED's in my truck, and they still fade, but its quicker now.

I think it might depend on how the replacement LED's power driver circuit is setup...I noticed that the current ones I put in my map light (which just uses resistors to drop the voltage) still fade pretty smoothly; but in the past I had some other kind of LEDs in my old car and the fading was more like an awkward/abrupt flickering fade. Maybe those had some kind of transistor gizmo drivers built into the LEDs?
 
Wow, so this thread really took off! The diagrams look great guys and I will be sure to use one of them. I should make one correction though to my original (overlooked) statements. It is a SPDT switch I was going to use, not a three way switch. My terminology was way off. I had bought the correct switch but referred to it incorrectly.
 
I feel like I should have been able to figure this out from the diagrams but I can't. I am trying to add the puddle lights the my rock lights circut so that when I turn on my rock lights, the puddle lights will come on too. Where should I input the powers into the system in order to avoid frying anything, while still having just the puddle lights (not the rock lights) turn on when approaching the car.
