Which would you sell?

I have two 2000 4Runners, one SR5 and one LTD......

SR5 (170K):

LTD (200K):

Both have about the same # miles, good tires, good interiors, pretty much equal in every regard. LTD of course has the better transfer case, leather, digital climate controls, chipped keys. Both have B&M coolers, same engine, and timing belts changed a couple months ago. LTD front seats are showing some wear, and the black paint is a little rough in spots from bird crap left on too long.

I like the SR5 because it has the factory hood scoop, and looks more rugged (mostly b/c of no running boards and the bull bar). But I prefer the transfer case on the LTD and it does seem to ride a little smoother.

I'm really torn.... Probably sell for the same amount for either.... Need some input / opinions......

if I had to make a choice based on the pics I would sell the LTD in a hearbeat, the SR5 is actually a sports edition, It has RARE fender flares without body cladding and bumpers and grille are colour coded which are nice, plus the hood scoop is a RARE and sought after option only on sports edition

Neither, since they both look in good condition.

I take it your daughter is out of college and isn't driving the 4runner anymore.

swap the tcase into the sport, problem solved.

Whole trans would have to be swapped with TCM

And OP I would sell the SR5, that transfer case is worth its weight in gold if you live where it snows, only thing I would give the multimode T-case up for is a manual which I did lol.

Which one has better past maintenance records? Like spark plugs, oil changes, filters, stuff like that.

I've had both for about the same amount of time, done all maintenance, new plugs, filters, etc.

Well actually she's in Peru until December and is expecting a Subaru Outback when she returns.

That would make the perfect solution.

keep the sr5 and sell me the ltd!

PM me! The multi-mode would be great in Boone.... My older daughter could never get the hang of the SR5 tc while she was at App.

Normally I would pick any sport over any limited EXCEPT that color combo. I just really like the black LTDs with the gray/silver trim. So in this case, I fall in line with a few of the others who would base it on reliability. I'd sell whichever one you feel is most likely to have issues in the near future and hang on to whichever one you believe is more mechanically sound.

btw, what's wrong with you? Asking us to help decide which 4runner to sell as if that's something any of us can fathom. That's insanity. Final answer: keep them both forever and ever haha

Remove the running boards and transfer the bull bar to see how you like it. Everyone gets all gawky over the Sr5 flares & scoop. If the cladding isn't that big of a deal for you then you'll probably be more happy with the LTD, all else being equal.

Keep rubbing it in, 5 speed guy!
jk
OP, if theyre basically in similar condition... Personally Id have to Keep the Sport based on lower mileage and looks. But theyre both super nice

I have been to Lima twice, Peru is quite nice. Nice locals for the most part.

The Limited gets my vote as well to sell. I hope the Outback is for the MPG increase but one without a CVT tranny in it.

Yep tired of hearing her whining about her gas costs. I keep saying "FREE. CAR." Oh well. It'll be a 2008 or so. Guy around the corner is a certified Sube mechanic, has done 2 timing belt changes for me. He'll find me an Outback with a blown head gasket that I'll buy for cheap and he'll rebuild it. :thumb3:

Just curious, is either one equipped with the e-locker?

The SR5 actually has a rear diff locker but I've never been able to activate it, it just blinks. Also one of the rear ABS sensors are frozen so ABS is always disabled. I just ignore it.

In that case, keep the SR5 and find solutions for those two problems. Unless you absolutely have no need for a rear locker, then I bet someone on here would buy it from you and build it if you don't plan on building it up much.
