I am in the process of swapping out my aftermarket roof rack for another one, a Sherpa this time (buy once, cry once guys) and replacing the roof rack bolts/retainers on the inside and cleaning up from the water leak from 1st said aftermarket rack... So I pulled the headliner out... When the rack goes in, I'm left wondering - While it's out, what else should I do? It's a 2007 Sport Edition.
1 - I have never had a sunroof issue, but admittedly - I don't use it a whole lot... Is there anything I should do to the mechanisms up there while the headliner is removed to keep it "issue free"? I live in the PNW so rain is a practically daily thing, but rust, isn't a huge issue.
2 - When removing the headliner, there was a bunch of wiring that was glued/silicone sealed to the headliner that had to be separated - I've seen some videos on removal and some discussion - But what are you doing when you put it back? Just stuffing it up there? Re-gluing it up there in sections?
3 - Again, not a lot on the topic of putting the headliner back in (at least in my searches) - On facebook groups the thing I see the most is "Removal was time consuming but not bad at all, re-installing it can be a challenge" - Anyone have any tips/tricks to making the re-install smoother?
Appreciate the help all - I have a couple of weeks probably for the new rack to arrive and get installed so while it's out - Figured why not make sure it's good to go for the next 16+ years.
