Prior to replacing my CV joints, I had (and still do) a persistent whirring noise which changes pitch/frequency based on the speed I am driving and and angle the front wheels are turned (noise goes away in sharp turns).
I noticed while replacing the driver side CV that the joint had play similar to this one, though not as significant. I did not check after replacing the CV's if the play still existed, however the noise did. I did not have any leaks around the seal before nor after, so I am curious as to what causes this sort of play?
The only other source would be the wheel hub, but I would not expect it to go away when I am in sharp turns, which is the case.
Any thoughts?
