I played for a few hours. It was kinda fun- the "Poke Stops" were at landmarks around my neighborhood I had never seen. I enjoyed walking my dogs around to the "Stops" and seeing new things.
My wife's still playing. Today we went to a park down on the waterfront and walked a few miles while she "hatched her eggs" (apparently you have to walk xx distance to get them to hatch. The ones tonight were "5km" eggs). There was, without exaggerating, hundreds of people there at the park walking around playing the game. Socializing, "exercising", and just getting outside. I know that her and I would not have been down there if not for the game. In fact, we've lived here two years and I had never been down there since they don't allow dogs.
I think it's pretty damn cool, myself. Much better than sitting on the couch watching TV or playing Angry Birds.
Tomorrow we're going to go to a dog friendly park and hatch a couple of her "10km eggs".
Of course there are idiots in every crowd, but I am all for kids, teens, adults, whoever getting off the couch and heading outside. Even if it is to play a game on their phone.
