White letter Vs black?

I’ve had my 2013 4R for just over a week and I can’t stand the looks of the Bridgestone Duelers so I ordered some BF Goodrich T/A KOs. Now the question is do I put the white letters out of the black wall. I’m leaning towards black out. The white letters remind me of the tires I ran as a kid in the 70’s and kind of seam dated. So with all that said what do you guys like on the 4R with stock SR5 wheels?

White letters give it a tough look IMO.. but I wouldn't do white letters unless it was lifted with larger tires... personal preference.... I also don't like white letters out on a white vehicle.

I personally like black out. White letters around here just remind me of all the posers around me. They got 8 inch lifts with 40" M/Ts and their trucks don't even get to touch grass for example. But to each their own.

I used to have white side out on my older Explorer for awhile then changed to black side out. Styles have changed and from what I see most are going black side out now. My Nittos don't have white lettering so I don't have a choice, but if I did I would go with black side out.

When I bought new tires for the Xterra a few years ago I decided to have the white lettering out and really regretted it. It looked great for a few months, but after that one more p.i.t.a. thing to keep clean. And when they are even slightly dirty, or if your wife curbs it :rant: , it looks awful. Never again!

Shop installed mine with white letters out and didnt ask me. Now they wont change them without charging me. so white letters it is, i guess.

My opinion would be do not show the white letters this day and age.

I had the white letters showing on a Ford Explorer I had in high school in 1999... That was also around the same time I had my first beer. :cheers:

I've got to agree with this. White letters might look good on that Chevy truck I had in '74, but not on a 5th gen.

I vote 'black side out'

I was in the same dilemma trying to decide. Every 4x4 I've ever owned have had white letters on the outside, but I've noticed the modern trend being black-out.

In the week or two leading up to my tire purchase, I found myself eyeballing every truck and SUV on the road to see if they were black-out or white-letter. I'd say 70-80% were black-out.

I'm a proud owner of BFG All-Terrain KO 265/75R/17s...black side out.

All black tire is easier to take care of.

With white letters out, the letters have to cleaned in order for the tire to look good.

White out is for girls.

^^^ Hit the nail on the head. Last vehicle I had white letters out was my 89 GMC Jimmy. White letters have to be cleaned every time the truck is washed. I don't know about you guys but I an not getting any younger and I'm even starting to find it a p.i.t.a to rotate my own tires.

Definitely BLACK OUT - You don't need to advertise these tires - anyone who cares will know what they are.

I know a lot of folks run BF Goodrich T/A KOs on the 4runners, personally I don't get that. Had em on my F250 - looked great - but ultimately not the best choice.

My last SUV came with white out, and when I replaced them I kept doing the same, it fit the style of the truck I guess. The 4R came with them black out, and when I swapped them I went back and forth but was glad I kept them the same. The tire place did ask but also assumed it would stay the same. Really it is a matter of what looks good to you.

I quite rotating my tires myself a lllooooonnnnngggg time ago. Now I'm getting to the point of considering automatic car washes - or hiring someone else to do it for me. Heaven forbid!

Used to be white lettering on tires was "fashionable".... but, for me, those days are over.

It's easier to paint the letters then to clean them if you want white letters out.
