White spots on hood from ceiling water!!!

I parked my car in a parking structure during a rainstorm, and i guess some water dripped from the ceiling and left these nasty white spots on my car. They won't come off easily... I tried water and scratchx... nothing. Using my fingernail takes it off a bit, but the spots are pretty big (like big bird droppings). Any ideas on how to get rid of them?

I dunno man ... I have spots like those all over my hood and nothing gets them out. If you can get them out with your fingernails, then you should be able to get them out with some 3M rubbing compound or something.

Hopefully others will reply.

The dealership told me that it's due to "environmental" things, and therefore they won't work on it under any kind of warranty.

These things should be taken care of immediately to prevent further damage to the paint. They'll permanently etch the paint if not taken care of. Since you seem to be able to get rid of them with your fingernail, try clay or vinegar. I've never used vinegar, but it's supposed to work well on water spots.

Keep in mind if you use vinegar you need to wax the surface again.

WOW! The vinegar worked like a charm... the water mark just came right off. The only marks on the paint were the scratches I made with my fingernail.. But they are not really noticeable. After wiping down with vinegar and a dry towel, I put on a layer of wax...
