For high beams is there any worry about LED heat sink/fans being exposed?

I am wanting to get those so badly. I only have one pressing question/concern. Maybe you can help... Is there any danger with stuffing all the wiring and the transformer box thingie behind the dust cover? I have seen a bunch of install videos and only one guy did the stuff method without drilling a hole in the dust cover. I was so stoked to see that option. But I am waiting to pull the trigger because I am curious about the heat dissipator leafs touching the wiring and the anti-flicker module thingie. Do the cooling fins get hot enough to melt the wiring or driver? Thanks for your time.

I had the same question as you and reached out XD directly. They told me that I should be "fine" stuffing everything behind the dust cover without altering it.

I installed these in my lows and was able to stuff everything behind the dust cover. It was a very tight fit but seems to still be working without issue. They have only been installed for ~2000 miles though.

I just bought a 2013.
It has the whitest, brightest headlites I've ever seen, but does not appear to have a distinct cutoff.

What is the easiest way to determine what bulbs, etc I actually have?

Pull them out and look...nearly impossible to tell just by looking at color.

Im looking for just a brighter bulb than stock white/yellow whatever, reliable and plug and play. It sounds like the Morimoto H11s may do the trick?

It looks like the Morimoto H11s have an adapter, would i need it?

Any other suggestions for just a replacement bulb with better output?

I ended up doing the H9 bulbs with the slight modification. Much brighter and have the same beam pattern as the H11's. I'm extremely happy i don't have to do a major upgrade.

Look up the H9 mod, it only modifies the bulb slightly and takes no more than 10 minutes and cost less than 10 bucks.
The GTR to me are the best bulb for 4runner but some don't like the 6k color. It also requires a slight bulb modification to use...until they make a fix

I picked up the GTR leds and got them to fit without modifying them. I know [MENTION=327840]ForRun[/MENTION] said they have to be modified but I’ve been running them for a couple weeks un-modified without issue. They are a super, super tight fit but I was able to orient them correctly by inserting them with the locking tabs put in the wrong holes (didn’t put largest tab in the largest slot). I also had to change the factory set screw orientation as well to get the driver’s side led to fit perpendicular to the housing if that makes sense but all is good and they work great with the proper cutoff and no extra spill. I’ll try to take pics this week and show what I’m talking about in my 2020 Venture.

I will say it’s not a mind blowing upgrade but it is definitely an improvement over stock and I’m happy with the $200 investment. Admittedly I’ve been spoiled by OEM leds and hids in the past in previous cars.

Morimoto lows and highs. Very happy with them. Super easy install. I did the DRL disable mod and just keep my running lights on during the day with the switch back mod on my turn signals so they run white as DRLs and I am not blinding people with high beams with stock DRLs

Any issues with fan noise?

You do not need any conversion harness. You modify the H9 bulb. Philips Standard H9, about $10 on Amazon.

There is nothing as far as a “pure white” halogen. Gimmicks such as coating the bulb with a blue color to make the beam appear “less yellow” only result in less light.

You have to change the technology of the bulb, and abandon Halogen for HID or LED to get a pure white light.

Modern cars (last few years) consistently put out a 6000k color with their OEM LEDs. 5000k is sometimes called “pure white” but I would advise against 5000k unless you either know what it looks like in person or are wanting to take a risk and experiment.
