who can answer this? is there a fairy edition??

i just got a 2001 4Runner Sport Ed, and the first night I slept in the car i saw on the back side windows (cargo windows) 2 fairy 'drawings' carved into the window. It says Toyota on the windows, so I'am wondering: what's with the carved fairy?
thank you

You were not doing drugs back there when you saw them were you...:D.

Fairy, as in small mystical creatures? This is just a wild guess, completely off the top of my head, but sounds to me the previous owner (or PO's children) put them there.

Did you think Toyota put them there??

:)) yeah, that will be the effect, wouldn't be? :))
no, that's not the case. i was sleeping, and in the morning, due to the fogged up windows, i could see the fairy, the mystical things with wings. i don't think any kids did that. there are carved into the glass. i hope i can take a pic. and post it.

Maybe kids didn't do it, but someone other than Toyota put them there.

Please do take a pic, I'm curious to see exactly what you're seeing.

Maybe your 4Runner is from San Fran or Mass. Tell me, does the engine sound a bit "lispy"?

:D

Where exactly is it located and how big is this "fairy".

I've only seen one other 4Runner with the Fairy Edition Option. The fairy is actually Tinker Bell from Peter Pan. They are very hard to find and almost always sell for a few thousand more than normal ones. You're very lucky to have got one without realizing it! The Fairy Edition was produced in Feb of 2001 and only 250 came of the production line and the windows went into vehicles for all the global markets, so the actual number that made it into the US is not known. It was originally designed to coincide with the 100 year anniversary of Peter Pan (although the novel didn't actually make it out until 1902), but TMC had all sorts of trouble with licensing and copyright issues and ended up abandoning the whole idea. I can't remember all the other features of the Fairy Edition, but the windows are the most well known since they were the only thing to make it out of the factory.

:)) are you kidding me?? that expensive? dang it. better insure my windows separately now . :))
thank you for the info. but why on Toyota??

No, he's dead serious. Yes, the Fairy Option was expensive. At one time, Toyota even considered placing a small fairy emblem on the rear hatch to show it was a Fairy Edition.

Why on Toyota you ask...why not. Makes complete sense to me...they are always trying to one up their competition.

Google doesn't always have the answers...I'll dig around and see what I can find. I know this topic has been discussed on other 4Runner forums before.

Every now and then a new member will pop up and say they have the Fairy Edition 4Runner...but most of the time they are kidding. Glad to see you got the real thing. Congrats! :bigok:

(Here's the picture of the sticker from the ebay link above):

Are you saying this is the image that's on your 4Runner or is this something you're looking to purchase to put on your F.E. 4Runner? Either way, I say get it!

no, that's something I've found while i was googling for the Toyota fairy edition. on the window i only have the fairy, without the Toyota logo.

When I first started reading this thread I thought it might have been the ghost of an old, peeled away, sticker. It happens on glass sometimes. You peel the sticker off but when you wash the car or when it gets a little dew in the morning you can tell exactly what the sticker was.

But now with the fairy edition Toyo... I don't know if I've done enough drugs in my lifetime to believe this. :D

Oh, ok. Every now and then you can find people making these stickers for FE owners. Very classic.

See, and you thought the FE 4Runner was a myth. Now you know it's not. :D

Whoa- that's pretty cool! Exclusivity is cool, but i wonder if I'd really like a fairy on my 'runner... :D Don't ask...Don't tell!
