I owned the car for 10 years. It was purchased with 100k on the odometer, bone stock with a bad rear main seal. I fixed it up over the years, blew the head gasket when I turned up the boost, and put a metal head gasket in it w/a full top end rebuild. The car gave me almost 100k miles of faithful service. I used to take that thing up rougher roads than most people drive their 4Runners on, horsebeating it day in and day out. It took the abuse like a soldier.
It was getting to the point last year where I never drove it, being a 3rd vehicle with two 3rd gens in the driveway and changing vehicular interests.
It needed new tires, a new windshield, the interior was getting rough, it smoked @ idle (bad turbo seals or valve stem oil seals) and it was starting to develop alot of old car "quirks". The timing belt snapped on the freeway while I had the FS ad up (non interference engine), so it got a new TB/WP and was on it's way for $2400. When I purchased it 10 years prior, I paid $3500...talk about holding value.
It was a clean car, and I gave it away, but I was only putting 2-3K miles on it per year. The battery was going dead between drives, and insurance was adding up @ $50/month. It just made financial sense to let it go.
I miss it every time I try to accelerate in my 4Runners.... even the S/C'd one is an absolute DOG compared to the old Supra.
