Who has changed the color of Front and Rear Valance

I went the cheap way and lightly sanded and used some Krylon all in one satin black and it looked great for a couple of weeks until little road rocks or something started chipping away,or just a shitty paint prep job by me... Got frustrated and eneded up just buying the Pro covers.

I think the OEM covers are molded black,not painted ?

Anyways,I am a pro now at removing the front and rear end and I suggest anyone painting to just take the covers off rather than risk overspray. Took me first time about 45 minutes to take the front and rear end off.

Yea the prep work is definitely the hardest part if you're going to leave them on the rig - I probably spent an hour slipping in playing cards/painters tape and then plastic sheeting when I could have easily just removed them an painted.

Is $85 each a good price? So it would be $170 for the front and rear valances together.

There was a thread but I can't find about where to buy cheap clips as opposed to paying $2 each for Toyota ones. Does anyone know where?

You will need 27 clips total, I bought off eBay fairly cheap and still have a bunch left over, gladly send u for a great price, not sure if i have all 27 though.

I've seen the silver trail valances for less than that.. be patient and keep looking.. you should be able to find them for quite a bit less if it's worth the wait for you. Good luck.. let us know what you decide on!

Hi. Newbie here, just bought a 2019 TRD Off Road Premium in midnight black. And of course somebody already scratched the bumper valance. I like the idea of painting it matte black like some of you guys did but for now I just want to touch it up.

So I'm looking for a touch up pen. The door jamb says that the trim color code is LC22 (C/TR:218/LC22) but I can't find that online anywhere and not even the local dealership has it. Any thoughts on where I can find an LC22 touch up pen or perhaps a paint code alternative that matches? Or is LC22 not actually the paint code that I need?

Sorry if this was already asked/answered on another thread. I looked but couldn't find it.

I removed mine and painted them to match the body color. Didn't like the silver trim. (Ignore my avatar picture, this was before I had them painted)

I know you might dismiss plasti-dip as the cheap option, but it's so common for a reason. If you plan on scratching it up on the trails, plasti-dip is super easy to touch up. Also, if your coats are evenly applied, it can look almost as good as real paint. Here's a picture of mine right after I finished it.

Got a how to to get it off and paint it up. I did my ORP wheels and I love the way they look and I wouldnt mind doing this and maybe the Emblems.

I called a dealer for the same reason, they said Toyota doesn't offer it... I believe the classic silver vehicle color is the same thing, 1F7, but I haven't tried it

I have a friend who runs car restoration shop and he painted them black for me, $50 and I took them off myself to save the effort from the mechanics. Highly recommend painting those ugly silver valances. Call around some local shops and see what they tell you price wise, I wouldn't recommend painting yourself. Have it done professionally and you will never have any issues... unless you're like me and scratch it on rocks!

Can I be friends with your friend? Got some quotes today for vinyl wrapping and it went anywhere from 2-400, even if I removed the pieces myself.

I would not vinyl wrap them, it can chip and just get all... gross. I've just never had a thing for wrapping parts of a car, stick to paint for the valances. You'll have to sand them down just a little for the paint to grab on. The paint is actually BMW paint they use on their premium cars or some bs like that. It's a matte black. I once got a quote for 400! 400 effing dollars for a paint job! I wouldn't recommend Plasti-Dip either, again, trust issues. It'll chip and you'll end buying more paint to fix it and so on. I'd say just keep calling some local shops that do anything paint related and find the lowest quote.

I picked up both front and rear pro valances new on Ebay. They had a ebay bucks rebate for 10% so, all in including clips, for around $360. I didn't think that was too bad IMO. They are genuine OEM Toyota parts from a dealer, too.

$360 total? That isn't bad. I'm hoping CarTrimHome is going to start making these. I would imagine they'd sell both for less than $250 total.
