Slept in the 4Runner once with the wife. A thunderstorm chased us into the 4runner, else we were sleeping under the stars. I only fit cross wise. Getting laid out of the equation. Most memorable was in my '73 Ford Bronco. Driving through Utah on I 15 and my wife points to a mountain alongside the highway and says "let's offroad up it." Umm ok. Not sure how I missed this thread when it was going, but oh god yes. Absolutely loved my 3rd gen for this, and I can't wait to break in the new to me 4th gen. Although, the carpet in the old one gave burns for sure, so a blanket is mandatory. Then again, I've also done it in rental cars on the side of the road, and in the backseat of my Golf R, so where there's a will there's a way.

Last weekend in Utah, after going through "The Barracks".

Problem is the bottom section of the seat keeps coming unclipped from the retaining point and I have to go around the base and re-secure it. Only takes a second but still.

Also, the damn scuff marks on the tan headliner from switching around :mmph:

I always thought it was a right of passage. No vehicle or new bed is properly broken in until it is broken in properly!

We made it happen back in 1969 in a Sunbeam Alpine and in 1970 in a VW beetle so the Gen 5 4R LTD is a Penthouse. Note the position of the rear glass slider button just in case things get foggy.
