Who thinks rear sway bars limit flex?

I dont see how its limiting my flex. They say if you leave it connected it limits rear flex but my axle is pushed againts my SS Daystar bump stops and can maybe flex 1-2"'s more. Im just leaving the rear connected. The SS Rear sway bar extended brackets work really well too!

Ohh and on the trail I found a rock that was bigger, that I tried too park on. It was a little too big and I almost put the 4runner on its side. LOL. Couldnt get a picture because I just backed down it. I had it on two tires. It was a little scary.

I've actually found that with 9 wrap LC coils, I have so much flex that the coils will actually fall out if the sway bar is removed. It acts as a limiting strap for my rear suspension. It might be the same for you since you have 7 wrap coils.

That means you also have too long of shocks. My shocks will full extend before the coil will fall out.

Putting the swaybar in torsion when you "flex" out the rear does have a resistance. But for the angle of the axle relative to the frame 3rd gens see, the resistance is probably negligible.

I ran 9 wrap coils with 1.5" spacers in the rear of my last truck with OME LC shocks. No swaybars, but dropped my bumpstops down about 3". I feel like it was much more free to move around without swaybar than with it connected.

Like he said, resistance. I dont know if the sway bars limit how far your axel will flex. But they obvioulsy effect the ease at which it flexes.

True, but from what Ive read and been told everyone says it limits the flex. I actually like it connected and the resistance because it helps keep the body level and helps keep all tires planted. When its disconnected the body rolls a little to much and makes it feel unsafe. I dont think the resistance in the rear is a negative thing.

I understand you dont want the resistance up front since the disconnected sway bar helps the front tires jump up ledges and rocks. I feel safer with it connected and she starts to go sideways.

That may not be ideal - you don't really want your shocks to be the limiting factor in your suspension. That's what limit straps are for, to keep your shocks from overextending.

True but its going to max out right before they fall out. But with it flexed all the way too the bump stop the shock still is not maxed. Maybe if I had larger coils they may still fall out.
