New guy here, bought this truck a couple of months ago. Went out this AM to Seven Springs Rd from Cave Creek. Wanted to engage 4 wheel drive as per the owners manual so it wouldn't forget it was there 
Nothing fancy, just drove a pretty easy fire road (and I was by myself so nothing crazy).
I have no off-road experience, but look forward to joining you guys on a drive sometime.

I'm 6'7" and do not fit in 4runners with a sunroof, so I went with the base Trail.

Hey Fella's.... Anyone thinking about going out to putt around anywhere saturday? I've been looking at some of the lame fireroads around my area up north to even just go get my clean tires a little dirty for a bit lol.
Is being offroad like therapeutic???? Cuz I feel like it would be, and damn could I use some right about now ha.

I'm not going to be in town this weekend... Crown King is definitely on my shortlist too. But, with business travel this month and next, and having to get some scouting done for elk season next month, there isn't going to be a whole lotta time for offroading until November for me...

Same goes for me - outta town this weekend, then too much business travel in October.
I'll be heading to the Off Road Expo thing at WestWorld next Saturday if anyone wants to coordinate going as a group. Then another trip to the Sheep Bridge with a different 4Runner group on Sunday the 27th - that is open to anyone, if you're interested let me know.

Hey do you guys ALWAYS air down when you go off pavement? I understand it's purpose, just curious I guess. Particularly in reference to Table Mesa would it be necessary?

I always air down some regardless of the trail - how much I air down depends on what kind of terrain I think I'm going to encounter.

The trail that is off Table Mesa Rd to the east is in the book - its called New River. It will dead end at 7 Springs Rd/Cave Creek Rd. If you take a left and head north, it will dead end at Bloody Basin Rd - if you go right, it will take you through 7 Springs Recreation area
For this trail, if I was in my 06 4Runner, I would air down to around 20 psi to get a smoother ride.

Hey David, I have at least one co-worker that's interested in Crown King, maybe more. Does Saturday work? We can take lunch or eat in Crown King. I am hoping some other guys here want to jump on! I know that there are lot's of conflicts, but we are getting close to some critical mass... ;-)

Yea I can see how airing down no matter the terrain off road how it would be helpful in at least smoothing out the ride. I went up the backside of Lake pleasant on Castle hot springs rd for just a little bit without airing down or anything, and while it was super easy and flat, god was the rippled grading a rattling nightmare! hahaha. Vibration was crazy
