After a few years of driving 3rd Gens, I finally got my first 4th Gen 4Runner. I've been driving a '97 for the last few years, and I bought my wife an '02 just less than 2 years ago. Still love both of them.....but!!
I recently picked up a 2004 'Sport' (V8) with decently lows kilometers on it. I had been looking for a while, but wasn't finding what I wanted. Most of the '04/'05 4Runners around here are pretty pricey when the mileage is on the lower side (as they should be). I've always wanted an '04 or '05 - and preferred the 'Sport' versions. This one was for sale in my home city, but they were asking a little more than I wanted to pay. It had a couple smaller issues - plus it's right at the point where it could use the timing belt done (144,000 kms / 89,700 miles). After a bit of 'back and forth', I managed to get them to reduce the price enough to make it worth it.
As I mentioned, there's a couple small items I'll need to take care of (no rush). Then within the next short while, I'll need to get the belt done. I've driven it a little more than a week now, and I'm totally in love. Drives like a dream, and has tons of power!! Inside and out, it's in great shape. A few minor marks on the paint - but I can buff those out with a good waxing this Spring. One of the fender flares has a broken holder-clip. I'll need to wait until warmer weather (Spring/Summer) to put new ones on. The driver side sun visor doesn't stay tucked up anymore. Not sure how to fix that - but it shouldn't be a big deal. The rear-view mirror also has a crack in it. I'll find a replacement eventually. The only other thing I could find - was a rattle in the center of the dash, between the speaker and the windshield. I'll try to reach up there and figure out what's causing it. Again, I need warmer weather so I can pull dash parts off without worry of cracking them. Overall I'm super happy with this vehicle.
Future plans are to lift it a little bit, and put slightly bigger tires on it. Nothing too much more beyond that. I like the simple clean look.

I really enjoy getting up next to the guys with exhaust kits on there big diesel trucks and getting on it. He he hee :bat: One guy kept trying to catch me with his GIANT Super Duty, but didn't work out to well for him. lol
