Who's ready for the bi-annual Discount Tire Direct Ebay Sale?

It's interesting how the different stores handle their pricing. I stopped at the closest store to me last night to ask if they can match the price. The manager said he was aware of the eBay coupon code, but said he couldn't get me a deal anywhere near that price. The typical in-store prices don't include mounting, so I have to pay that cost separately either way and I'll still have to pay full price for the spare.

Which store? The store on Convoy in Kearny Mesa was the store that told me they would match it

It was the store in Rancho Penasquitos. I need to swing through Kearney Mesa tomorrow, so I'll try that store. While I suppose there may be some benefits to buying from the store, I'm sure I'll still get stuck with tax. The $280 savings (coupon + tax savings) from buying online is tough to beat!

To Cooper STT Pro or not to Cooper STT Pro, that is the question... :noidea:

I am not in the market this go around, but I would be deliberating the same question. I also have BFG KO2s. They have been working for me so far for where I live, but I know you have been having some different experiences. I think I will be going with a more aggressive option next time around. The Coopers in either the ST Maxx or STT Pros are tempting depending on how much of a MT you might need.

What size / type of FN wheels did you order? If you got a 17" wheel The Nitto Ridge Grapplers have been getting a fair amount of high praise. But they don't make them in 16" options.

I know BFG is supposed to come out wither their KM3 soon, but to me, it just looks like the KO2 sidewall on the KM3 with little to no difference in tread design.

I think the Cooper STT Pros are the current go-to aggressive MT style tire. It will be a bit louder, but I would be interested in seeing what you think about them coming from Goodyear DT>>BFG KO2>>to the STT Pros.

I'm going to keep my mouth shut on the new wheels until they are on the rig, but I will say I stuck with a 16" wheel. There are really only two options on the table for me if I go with new tires... the STT Pro or MTRs. I will never run a Nitto tire due to their weight.

Coincidentally I bought 4 KO2s that I purchased from Discount online to the Penasquitos store 2 days ago for mounting and balancing. They made no comment about the tires other than to note on the repair order that they were from Discount Tire online. They charged $19 per tire for mount, balance and TPMS "rebuild". Still a big money saver buying online.

So I ordered my tires last week and got a notification less than 20 hrs later saying they were ready for delivery locally. I put a request for UPS to hold them at the closest depot for pickup and a note to contact me to arrange alternate delivery times. (To my knowledge, you can pay a fee for a weekend delivery or night delivery). The depot hours were from 9am-6pm which were not available to my work hours as well as being an hr away. My wife did not get off work early enough to do a pickup and they WILL NOT open their pickup gate on the weekend for private customers. Ups never got back to me with my request and their live person said he wasn't on his list of options. I got a notice at 2:00 am that they were return shipping my tires back to DTD in Ohio.
I called, ups said they can't do anything for my order as the shipping number is invalid at this point. Called discount tire direct and within 45 sec their rep said no problem, when they arrive he will send the back to depot no charge with a notice to contact me. He also said he would talk to UPS.

Daaaammmittttt! My new-to-me 04 really needs some AT tires (Duratracs) before summer wheeling and camping gets underway but I just can't swing it right now. I always wait until this deal to get new tires too but the timing is just rough right now and I'm having a really hard time not putting these on a credit card now. Fiscal responsibility issues.

I think the sale ends really soon too.

Went to my local Discount Tire and they price matched it all once I showed them you could do the 2 sets for $100 off each time. Took a bit of a hard sell on my end but walked away with a set of KO2s!

Goodbye sad Duractracs, you will not be missed!

I've bought tires this way 3x and it shows up that way every time. For some reason they don't reflect the discount on the invoice.

But they are cheap... I have some 285s E rated. tear up the side wall with 10k miles in and now one of them's side have cuts...

Speaking of balancing...does anyone know if Discount Tire uses the "Road Force" balancing machine?

Going to hold off at least till the next sale but having the road force balancing done could make a difference in where I purchase the tires....thanks

Most discount tire stores have a Hunter road force balance machine. Just call beforehand and ask

I bought Falken tires and level 8 wheels on the promo that ends today. They price matched online retailers and I got $275 in rebates. I can't complain about that.
