Who's running wheeler's T1 and T12 coils?

With the V8 you could probably go up a notch and be fine.

Installing 5100 shocks with Wheeler T1 and T13 on 04 LTD v8 4wd. Having issue fitting rear shock, as I can't compress enough to fit the top shock nut on to the shock bolt. Looks like this part of frame is in the way. Has anybody needed to cut this off? The bushing doesn't fit in this like the stock does.

Looked thru a lot of posts but don't see anyone discussing this...

I just jacked up the axle and manhandled it until I could start the top nut. Maybe try doing the top first before the bottom bolt?

Tried that too. Still can't compress enough to get the nut on. Those bushings are fat. Triple checked and the bushings are the correct ones.

Looks like the old shock bushing washer is there still. If i remember correctly the stock shock had a washer, bushing, washer, frame rail bushing washer, nut configuration. and the bilsteins only had a washer, bushing, frame rail, bushing, washer, nut configuration.

Thanks King. I was wondering the same,so thought I'd ask to get confirmation. It's on there pretty solid, and I can cut it off, but wasn't 100% sure if I should cut it off. Looks like it will fit just fine without it.

Popped off with a little heat. Thanks guys. Will chime in regarding the new suspension in a couple weeks. Got the before numbers but forgot the before pics.

Bringing it back... going with 5100 and t1/t12. 2004 v6 4x4... should I set it to 0” lift or .85 in the front to match/level with the rear? I don’t mind a slight rake but not something noticeable. Thx

I went with wheelers recommendation and set mine at 0" and added 1/4" spacers to the top. Most people get more lift due to saggy springs. I am unsure how much lift I got front and rear because I forgot to measure. I had a little more rake than I wanted after the lift and that is why I added the 1/4" spacers. A lot of the people who feel like they didn't get enough lift in the front that I have seen were people with V8s (more weight). I think the T1 spring lift numbers advertised are for the v6 but I could be wrong. I would recommend contacting wheelers offroad and see what they recommend.

I dont like having the spacers up front so eventually I plan to get a set of coil-overs so that I can get my front end adjusted to the exact height I want.

Thanks bro. Can you give me your current measurements, center hub to fender? How much rake do you currently have? And just to confirm, yours is a v8, 5100 set at zero, t1 coils and a 1/4” front spacer, t12 with 5100 in the rear?

I don’t want to use the spacer, base on your response to these questions, I guess I’ll have to experiment.

Thanks

Follow up to this thread, I have 5100s set at 0” up front with the T1/12 springs. For anyone considering, there is a very noticeable amount of rake with this setup. I’m measuring an inch of rake on the running boards, and 3 inches on the wheel wells. The front lifted to what I expected but the rear lifted much more than 1.5”. I’m considering going to the .85” setting but this lift has already caused CV boots to spray grease and the needle bearing in the differential to start grinding. Not really looking to add more headaches. I’d like to hear from those who did this setup with the .85” setting though. Pictures would be helpful to see the end result.
Edit: I have been driving this setup for a year also, so everything is settled. I really like the way it drives. I had X-REAS before and I this this is has the same feel. Nice and comfortable daily driver feel, but you feel the 5100s do their job when you start hitting bumps and turns.

Im running the T1/T12 spring combo. It has a lot of rake. Has anyone run the T1 springs at the 0.85" setting on the 5100s? I am thinking about doing that to level the vehicle out a bit more. Wheelers Offroad suggests spacers for this but I dont want to move everything down to level the front.

Pics of your truck also please. I was going to to set it to 0” also but now that you mention it, I’m back debating it again. Also if you can provide your measurements from center of hub to bottom of fender. My rear with 5100 and t12 center hub to bottom of fender is at 24”.

I’m waiting on uca before installing the front. My upper ball joint needed replacing so I decided to get new uca.

Here’s a link to a post I made with an image of my lift.

I’m around 21” front and 24” rear center hub straight up to fender. Now that I’m giving this a critical look, I think going to .85” will actually be perfect. Running boards will be nearly level and there will still be a nice subtle front rake.

Ok, got it in on 2nd perch of the 5100 and drove about 20 miles and measured. Currently front is about 22” center hub to fender. Rear is about 24” center hub to fender. I do have that lean on driver side about 1/4” but more noticeable on the driver rear. There is a slight rake but i think it looks ok. Gained 2.5” up front and 3” in the rear from old oem shocks/springs, pretty sure they were sagged.

At first I was just going to do the springs and shocks but noticed bad ball joints so I decided to get jba uca (wasn’t able to press the oem ubj out and thought the jba uca was a good future investment) and moog Lbj. Also installed new moog tie rods.
Just need to get it aligned. Also no more clunk when slowing/breaking to a stop.

Did you ever finish the install? I am thinking of doing the same setup and I haven't seen anyone do it yet.
