Furthermore, he would be sworn in with the bible. If you know anything of senators, they are sworn into office and -suprise- Obama is in fact a senator. I believe you may opt to use your own religious text, but Obama selected the bible many years ago my friend. Either way, it's sad that stuff like this can sway votes.
As for Dr. Jack Wheeler you would be surprised to find that he is crazy. If you think you are defending McCain with this guy you are sadly mistaken. He absolutely hates OBAMA AND McCAIN. Please hear me out. He has written a piece on John McCain concerning his time as a POW. He claims that John collaborated with communists to get a hotel room with prostitutes. This guy is obviously nuts, would you agree?

I take no offense to anything in regards to politics and I have not defended McCain in any of my statements I don't believe. Sarcasm played a huge role in many of my posts and maybe it was I who was taken much to seriously.
As for McCain, I know he has many flaws and he wouldn't be human of he didn't. If you saw the Chris Rock special on HBO recently you would have heard him mention the fact that McCain keeps talking about he was a POW and survived....... the man got CAUGHT, I would think he would want to not mention the fact that he wasn't smart enough to evade capture..... but that's a whole different angle.

I live in "schizophrenic" Virginia - where the commonwealth appears to be repeating itself.
Early returns show Republican John McCain as the winner over Democrat Barack Obama in the contest for the White House, but it the night is still young.
Democrat Mark Warner is projected to defeat Republican Jim Gilmore in the contest for retiring Republican John Warner's US Senate seat. {Both Mark Warner and Jim Gilmore are former governors.}
VA has not voted Democrat for POTUS since LBJ in 1964, but consistently elects Democrats to the governor's mansion, numerous state house seats and to Congress.
Anyway, me thinks it is going to be a long, long night!

I use to live in Fairfax Country. It's kind of weird phenomena isn't it?
Same thing here happens with the Governor here in Arizona. We have a female Democrat Governor and Arizona is pretty Republican.

As the returns pour in, it does indeed appear that Sen. Obama is quickly approaching the "270" magic number for an electoral victory.
Ironically, the popular vote is still looking very close - but that is not how we do things here. LOL! (But that is another issue for another day.)
I wish him luck and can only hope that my worst fears are not realized. My gut feeling is that government will grow - especially with a leftist Congress, taxes will be hiked, freedom will be curtailed (even if the movement is gradual). The First Amendment will be assaulted through efforts at bringing back the so-called 'Fairness Doctrine' and obvious attempts are going to be made to circumvent the Second Amendment with more idiotic 'gun control' laws.
Again, I hope that I am wrong about this; but I have enough liberals in my family to know how they think.
Here in VA, it is indeed odd; almost as though we are three different states (NoVA, Central-East VA and the Shenandoah Valley). Looks as though Mark Warner captured the US Senate Seat for the Democrats - and two US House seats were gained from the GOP by Democrats, both District 2 and 11. VA still appears to be in the GOP/McCain column as of 10pm, however.

As a rule I never discuss politics, religion, abortion, or second amendment rights openly - especially on a public forum.
I WILL say that that is one of the most asinine, un-called for remarks I have ever read on this or any other forum.
Politics aside, McCain served our nation and paid some heavy tolls as a result.

I never said it was one man and the public didn't overwhemingly vote for Bush so the faith was split.
