We had a rare freeze and a pant load of snow in Portland and I was caught with a windshield fluid reservoir of pretty much straight h2o which of course froze and pushed the reservoir inlet/filler neck up about 4.5 inches, to the point where the hood barely latches. It actually pushed up the passenger side front corner of the hood directly over the filler neck!

I think the inlet/inlet neck is a separate piece from the reservoir itself on my 98 4 Runner (4 cyl base) and I thought that once the frozen water melted I could push the filler neck back down into place.

Long story short- I believe everything has thawed and I tried to muscle the filler neck back down into position and that bad boy is not budging! I muscled it to the point of thinking I was going to break something and backed off.

Anybody got any ideas as to how to reseat the filler neck?

Seems like it would be simple...

This sounds like a job for my tool of choice the BMFH or as some refer to it as the big mother fuc&ing hammer :D

OP, you're in luck. I have a plan of action for you. 1, get a screwdriver and a socket set. 2, start taking shit apart until you find the problem. 3, when you find it, fix it. 4, put shit back together. 5, fill the washer reservoir with a freeze resistant washer fluid. 6, close the hood, wash your hands, pat yourself on the back. :)

you forgot to take step by step pictures and post them. so the next person that has this same problem, has something to reference for help.

Reading the replies has provided a boatload of laughs, much appreciated.

A little something about me...I'm a lazy bastard and was hoping that someone could enlighten me before I had to dirty my hands.

Looks like I'll be removing the whole frick-en reservoir since the collective brain trust here has succeeded in making me laugh but failed to provide me a lazy man's way out. :evil:

Beer run first though, because first things first, right?
