Why are MPG on 07 and 08 models different?

Hi:

This may seem like a petty question but it has been bothering me and I can't figure it out. The 07 model gets 17/21 MPG while the 08 model gets 16/20. Both cars weigh the same and are almost the same in every way. What is it that is contributing to the lower MPG in the 08?

Laws/regulations of posting this data. Nothing mechanically different other than V6 V8 would cause this possible difference.

Thanks guys. I'm so glad I asked. I was actually thinking I should overlook the 08 models because I am already feeling guilty about the low MPG. There are many more 08 models available than 07. Thanks again.
