Why have you De-badged your 3rd gen?

Which Badges did you take off?

can you tell (under your eye up-close and personal)



I'm thinking about de-badging... but want to hear some other reasons... I'll keep my reason to myself for now.

Just personal preference. I removed all but the emblem on the front and back

Heat gun and patience. It's just double-sided tape holding it so as long as you work it off slowly, there's no visible indication that you've taken it off.

Warm the emblems with a heat gun or hair dryer and work a piece of floss through the adhesive. Once it's off use some goo-gone or something similar to remove the remaining adhesive.

I cannot see where my emblems were removed, but I can tell on others I have done. It all has to do with the condition of your paint. If it's faded, you'll be able to see where the emblems were as the paint under them will be nice and fresh looking.

I usually like the appearance of a "clean" car without badges, but then it does come off as a modified car when selling it.

Some reasons to de-badge:
-easier to wash and wax
-your vehicle looks less like a moving billboard which advertises for X brand
-your vehicle looks a little more "mysterious" to others ("what type of car is that?")
-simplicity, less "factory-bling" (my main reason)

So far, I have not removed any badges from my 4Runner. It's just not quite as stock looking without the badges, so I'm waiting.

Mine had tons of ugly gold emblems, only have the front and rear Toyota badges and need to paint those black when I get time.

Same here, I thought all the badges (limited, 4wd, 4Runner, Toyota) were too much on a small space. I've left the limited emblem on the b pillars for now...

I took off the SR5 and TOYOTA ones on the hatch about a month ago. I really like how it looks. However, after buffing it twice, I can still see an outline up close. You couldn't notice it if you weren't looking for it.

Because my neighbor's Dodge slid into the hatch a couple winters ago- when the street was iced over.
Got a new hatch, had it painted, and don't want to put the emblems back on. Half because It's not worth the effort, and half because I like it better without them. It looks clean, but I do think it CAN make it look...boring/modified/etc.

I like that the older plate tubs say "4Runner" too.

Currently I have just de-badged the "Toyota" in the lower right corner of the truck. It looked out of place.

I'm debating on whether to de-badge the rest or paint them to match the "black chrome" emblem package.

I did it cause I thought they looked out of place and when I get around to color matching the license plate surround the 4runner name plate will be going as well.

I buffed with a deep cutting compound and it removed all traces of the badge and even the tan lines from ugly pinstripes that were down the sides. Only way to tell is where the a very small chunk of paint came off with the very bottom corner of the SR5 badge.

I was given some Hilux badges from a friend living in Japan a while back and somewhat recently decided to remove them. Was planning on putting the stock badges back on, but ended up liking the look without them.

Yep! I actually like the old badges \ decals from the old Toyotas. They seem to have a bit more character. I was even looking at the old Toyota emblems that were on the original Celicas for my grill.

2 naked butts here. If you take of the center "4runner" you'll have two small pin holes. The Sr5 and badge on both of ours left a little outline that I could not remove.
