Because in its entire existence it has never broken down(10 years)
and my brother's 07 Chevy Corvette which he has owned 3 years has broken down(8+ times now)

Have a look at the cylinder bore scuff marks (Toyota). Can you guess its age/miles?

I hear ya. Aside from my 1980, none of my Toy's have left me stranded. Can't really blame the 80 much, that thing had a hard life. I picked it up in trade for a C6 transmission that I got for free, and was able to drive it day one. In the last 100,000 miles before I had her, I'm not sure anyone did so much as an oil change for it. Peeled the valve cover and it was just thick slime, being 16 at the time and not knowing how bad that much was, I just scraped off what I could with a plastic spoon, popped the new gasket on and called it good.

Just as I finally figured out how not to jack up gaskets on install to stop the leaks, she caught fire. Replaced the wires and was happy as ever to how she ran, heard a pop in the front end, both tires felt like they grabbed, then another loud pop and the world went dark. Woke up with chunks of metal in the cab, a gash on the head and sitting in the center divider of I-5 north of Mt. Shasta. Part of the 20r block was missing, the transmission and transfer case were gone, the t-case cross member had peeled off the frame rails and the pumpkin was torn out of the rear axle. The front pumpkin looked good though, and there were some pretty good scrapes on the freeway and a nice streak of fluids along with bits of metal for about 200 yards.

Not really sure what causes that kind of destruction, and the tow truck driver was pretty well flabber gasted at the destruction and the torn sheet metal where the shifter once was. In the end, the remnants were sold for more than I thought I'd get out of it. I think I got $200 out of the little that was left, and I always wondered if it was just recycled at a metal yard.

A sports car isn't typically very reliable, you'd want to compare it to something in its class. A chevy SUV would have probably broken down 2 times in 3 years.

Hash marks, BMWs at 250k have them. Nothing too special here.

Let me win :cry2:

lol thats all I can really compare it to other than my some of my friends camaros and stangs that constantly need repairs

That's 225 K miles with about 10 previous owners! If a BMW had 10 owners and made to 225 miles, next mile it will blow into pieces.

Trust me, I go to junk yards more often than my wife goes to the mall, and never seen a BMW that has 250 K miles. Have you seen any BMW Benz Audi etc., that is made 15 years ago and still on freeways?

Ya, GM is crap, or at least used to be. My chevy truck broke down 3 times in 2 years and it was 1 year old!

You walked by a german car in a junk yard and cant tell the difference between an Audi, Benz, and BMW and I should trust you? I've seen the hash marks while I've swapping heads to get a different power curve on I6 BMW with 265, 250, 225k.

Plenty of E30s out there...

"Scuff marks" -

I've destroyed a ton of cars, mainly a few years ago during the "cash for clunkers" program. We'd drain the oil, put some of this "liquid glass" stuff in, and mat the gas pedal to the floor till the engine seized. The car that took forever to stop running was an early 90's BMW 3 series. I'm not sure if I even got the thing to sieze, I stopped messing with It after it caught on fire.

I have only had mine for a few months and a few thousand miles, I love this truck more than any vehicle I have owned. My last 10 cars have been a string of Mercedes from 3 ML's (320, 430, and a 55), a C55, 2010 E350, and my last one being a twin turbo V-12 S600.

Just what T4R.org needs, another ignorant brand biased bashing thread. I've had a GM truck thats been in the family since 1992 when it rolled off the lot, it was a work truck, a daily driver, then a mud truck, then a daily driver again. The only time something was broken to the point where I couldnt rely on it for transportation is when I grenaded a drive shaft doing a 4,000rpm clutch drop on 35" BFG T/A KO's...

I agree to some extent with what some of rebelbowtie said... As some can see in my sig, I have a Chevy Lumina that has 333,000 miles on it... Crazy, but it still runs good and is powerful.

The first car I drove was a 91 lumina 4 cylinder, handed down from my parents. It was gutless, but was probably the most comfortable car Ive ever driven. Gotta love that boaty suspension and huge front seat

Some Chevys are good. My Suburban (2004 with 5.3L), which ive had for almost 5 years and 100,000 miles has given me almost no problems. Replaced some wheel bearings early on and she has been pretty dang bullet proof since. Only needs wear and tear items replaced. I love that truck!

Whoa some of you need to relax a bit, I'm not saying Chevys are Sh#%,
Just that a toyota will more likey be reliable..

If you disagree..trade your 4runner.
