Why does it seem like so many have silver?

Hi, new here....picking up my galactic gray sport V8 4wd 4Runner this weekend hopefully. Trading in my silver 2000 Audi TT (hence the username).

Anyway, my question...why does it seem like 75% of the pics in this gallery are of the silver 4Runners? Is that roughly the percentage that Toyota ships out? Or do people prefer the silver b/c it hides dirt? (I know this is a truth about silver cars...almost never washed mine and it always looked clean.) Just wondering. It's not that I think the silver looks bad, it just seems odd that soooo many of them here are silver.

This is my first silver car/truck. So far I have to say I like the color. It does seem to stay looking clean even when I know it's freak'n dirty. I was leaning toward the galactic gray or that light blue color (don't recall the name) but ended up with the silver because that's what was in stock.

I bought silver because of the reasons you mentioned, plus it looked good. I also thought it was interesting that Toyota had the luggage rack painted silver so my SE, it looks great with the silver luggage rack but if you bought another color the luggage rack looked strange because it was silver on all of the SE's and the Limited's. Now on the SR5 the rack is black which looks good with all of the colors. I don't understand Toyota designers?

Most of the cars sold in Japan are silver. Silver is the most popular color in Europe. Silver is becoming the most popular color in the US. That is why.

The last 4 cars I bought were green, so I decided to go with something different.

Since the '03s had the plastic cladding, I thought it looked pretty decent with the Silver, so that's pretty much why I went with silver.

It's weird how many people have them. When I was first checking them out online, I remember seeing a note on the Silver, saying it was in limited quantities.

I guess it's not so limited after all.

I was originally getting a V8 pacific blue SR5, but dealer couldn't locate one and they had not other V8 SR5's on the lot. They had three silver V8 sports on the lot so they offered me that for the same money. I could not turn that down!!

i came from a silver VW Jetta to a Beautiful Black Runner.... its so much harder to keep clean all of the time, 1. because its black and 2. because its a lot bigger than the VW.... sometimes i wish i stuck with silver, because it seemed like i didnt have to wash the Jetta so much.... there were only 2 SEs on the lot, a Silver V6 4x2 and a Black V8 4X4...and i was torn between the two, but when they drove the black one up, i was SOLD! i LOVE my runner!!!!!!!!!

personally, I wanted galactic grey, but when a used pacific blue v8 was available w/ only 3000 miles and 3 months old, I snatched it up. I really like the color, too...My last vehicle (a mazda 626) was dark green...was impossible to keep clean...the blue's not too bad in that regard. But I bet silver's a snap to keep clean...

Why Not Silver??

Easy answer: I really liked the silver, but my wife already drives a silver Highlander. My daughter said we couldn't have two silver vehicles. We decided she was right. Thus, we went with Dorado Gold as a second choice. And we like the gold because there's not many of 'em on the road, and is more unique than the silver.

My 4runner is Titanium and my wifes 350Z is Chrome, so I guess I'm lucky that both my vehicles aren't Silver
