If these threads "suck" then head over to 120, like others have said. You'll find more hardcore/expedition rigs over there.

If you want to start a "4th gen offroad pics" thread, create it with the proper name and don't include bullsh!t about GM and Ford. just my .02

i made an account over there but their registration is messed up right now, i emailed an administrator about it but havent heard back. also i asked a moderator on this forum to change the name, as for the "bull**** about GM and Ford, i suggest you just leave the thread because you sound like an ignorant brand loyal yuppie that likes to attack people on the internet.

see people like myself are what they call "automotive enthusiest" i enjoy all things with an engine, including even ATV's and PWC. i have owned and enjoyed cars, trucks and SUV's from just about every auto maker in my life and am completely unbiased. albiet i tend to lean more towards GM than others.

let me tell you a little about myself, i LOVE cars and trucks and was a career welder for 5 years before enlisting in the military and have worked in fab shops from welding picket rails for houses, to high end ornamental work, to water tight hatches and scuttles used on commercial and military ships, to super cars such as the Mosler MT900. if it bothers you that someone can like more than one brand of vehicle then go sit and spin buddy, actually better yet shoot me a PM and keep your rhetoric off the forum.

no way in hell my wife will let me do that until my son is prob at least around 1 year old. my good buddy goes wheeling with his 1 year old and he loves it, so hopefully i can talk her into one day.
 
The guys I off-road with, and I, haul our kids with us. They are of all ages and are buckled in. If I want to tackle something that might be risky, then the kids exit the truck and watch/take photos/shoot video. While out last time, we ran across another 1st gen 4Runner with a 1 yr old buckled in. They'd been out there all day and the baby was fine.

like i said not really my wife's cup o tea and i tend to agree that a new born shouldnt be on the trail. a 1 year old is quite a bit better though.

Lol, my other vehicle is a 96 Tahoe named "the purple people eater". I'll post pics when I get home. I have nothing against you or your love of vehicles, but when I go onto t4r.org, I like to talk about 4runners.

Think Toyota will ever make something comparable to Ford's Ecoboost?
(trying to combine Toyota and the current American vehicle topic into one reasonable question, just for you)
 
finally got my account activated over at toyota-120 and damn those picture threads are quite entertaining. too bad the site doesnt get the activity this one does.
 
I think the 4th gen is pretty tough looking and still actually off road capable. I think that Toyota was probably just trying to stay current in the market. I see a good amount of soccer mom people driving them, but just think, you see plenty of people driving jeeps who you just know do not go off road with them. Toyota did a good job, IMO of making a nice looking truck that's current yet not trying too hard to appeal the off-road fans. Hopefully that made sense.

The 4th gen is an off road workhorse and an on road mommy mobile! 4gens FTW!!!!

i think in the future you will see all major brands switch to smaller displacement engines with forced induction.
 
Just found a place to have a little fun next to where I live. It is steeper than it looks... Or I wish :-)

I really dont mean to be a @$$ here but both as much as those videos look fun and I do think its awsome your doin whatever it is you can in the "flat lands", but you guys need to locker up and find actual mountains for a hill climbing competition.

Ha ha, you first!

We take what we can get here...... Actually everywhere I've ever taken the 4r I've never felt that it needed a locker. It would be nice but for a DD and occasional off roader it's not necessary for me at least.
 
If you want to have a decent place to take the 4R offroad in here, it is at least 2-3 hours away... Around Montréal, every place you could think of is impossible to access or the police will get there before you can have fun. Makes you feel like a criminal!

I love when the back glass is opened when offroading!
