Why should I get a 5th gen 4runner?

I'm thinking about getting a 4runner. I've looked at the 4runner, Tacoma, and Silverado.

I wanted 4 doors, so I sold my FJ cruiser. I like the 4runner because it's a spacious SUV with 4 doors. Great for road trips and is good for fitting extra people.

What other reasons would I enjoy the 5th gen 4runners?

Jeez you should research it, determine if it fits your needs, test drive the hell out of it and buy it... Or not.
 
Aren't Tacos due for a revamp next year? I recall reading somewhere they are getting new power-train. Wish I could find that, tacoma world maybe?
 
I chose a 4Runner over a Jeep Unlimited because no matter how much I loved the Jeep, the back seat sucks big time (we have 2 kids), forum searches yielded why too many possible problems the JKU's have. Not to mention the price. I could not spend close to $40k and not even have side airbags for my children's protection.

I chose a 4Runner over a 2014 SR5 4x4 DCSB Tacoma because of the price. We decided on a Tacoma, planning on handing it down to my son in 5 years. My husband ordered this highly sought after sweet ride. It was going to be $34k & change OTD. I had the 4Runner in the back of my mind. Long story short, we got a 4Runner SR5 4x4 for $36222 OTD. We decided we'll get the boy some wheels when the time comes. To us and our family's needs the $3k more the 4Runner cost is well worth all the features and luxuries the Taco did not have.

I chose a 4Runner over a 2014 Chevy Silverado because I wanted something easier to park and comfortably use daily. Driving a big truck day in and day out is just not my cup of tea.

Let's see, I also thought about getting a BMW328i, decided we needed to have the ability to go offroad when we go to Girl Scout camps. More important to me.

Thought about the F-150, but when I closed the door at a car show and the whole side of paper thin sheet metal wiggled like jell-O, I decided no way...

I thought about all the clones like Rav4, Escape, CR-V, Equinox, etc......for about 5 seconds....haha.... Not me, I want something with cool factor not all the look alike car platform clones.....

That is my 2 cents, hope it helps you. My Barcelona Red is somewhere on it's way to us. We did some paperwork on Saturday. I hope she gets here before this Friday......my daughter and I are going to Girl Scout camp in Prescott. :) If she is delayed, we'll have to borrow my Dad's Explorer.

Had a 1996 4Runner, paid $10k for it, had it for 8 years and just sold it for $7k. Why buy a 4Runner?.....because it'll last longer than you care to have it!! Not a thing wrong with Gigi's 1996, I just wanted new, reliable and safety features for my family.

Thank you! This was what I was looking for. Alittle more reassurance on my thoughts. Silverado is too big, Tacoma isn't as luxurious, F-150.. haha who wants a Ford. I'm currently attempting to find a good deal on a 4runner. I will keep you updated.

Honestly, I just got my used 2010 Limited in like new condition and this is the #bestfeature. Could not be happier.
 
It really depends on what type of vehicle you want. I wanted a family-friendly off road capable SUV. The 4runner is far superior to the JK unlimited in interior space, comfort, and safety.....not to mention reliability. The only other options are the LC, GX, or Tahoe Z71, which are much more expensive and arguably less capable.

If I were to do it over again, the only other workable option for me would be a Avalanche, full-size truck with a bed topper, or used LC. I do miss having a pickup some times.
 
4runners have fully boxed frames and are still built in Japan, which really does make a difference.

Tacomas are built in the US for the US Market, which usually isn't a good thing, and have c-channel frames.

Don't know much about silverados, but it sounds like you like toyotas right?
 
It really is a nice truck. The ride is very comfortable and feels solid and you can rest assured that you’ll be able to keep it a long time and still have excellent resale value. The only down side is, it is very much underpowered. Toyota needs to offer the 4R with a larger/stronger V6 or better yet a small V8. I know the Tacoma is getting a redesign for 2015 and there is lots of talk that the Tacoma will have a more powerful motor. Considering the Tacoma and the 4R has the same V6 I think the 4R will likely see a more powerful motor in a year or so (hopefully anyway).
