Well, I only test drove a limited for about 10 minutes before buying mine. All the rest of the lot was buried in snow. I didn't even see or get in mine till after I bought it, lol. I picked it out from their online inventory before I went in.

I did research for months though and I was pretty confident I could make it the way I wanted anyway.:dancin:

I had the same experience. gotta test drive!

Something about Tacomas... I was dead set on a 6MT Tacoma TRD and finally was able to find one to test drive... hated it... Switched to a 4Runner instead.

Thanks, yeah I bought it looking at dealer photos. They didn't have a lift gate photo, I would have bought it either way. Just think it looks better colored.

Are they easy to swap?

From when I took mine off was pretty simple, just be sure to remove all the bolts. I did not take the bolts off from where the locking mechanism was and it through me for a loop. but once it was off no big deal. Easy to put back too.

Just went out to look at our 4R. I believe the truck is grey but it is really hard to tell under all the road spray and salt from the last rotten month. But the tailgate handle is definitely black, and that bothers me not one damned bit. I think I'll take the truck in to the car wash if we ever get temperatures above freezing! - Ted

Hey all, just bought my 16 TE tonight, I did not notice until I got home but... On the trail editions lift gate, why in the world did Toyota not color match the gate handle thing? Because now if I black out the emblem, it's gonna look like weird black shape thing that looks like it's been replaced and not painted.

As long as the tailgate latch works, I'm good. I don't really care about the color myself.

Never did the test drive, I hope I have make the right choice if not I will trade it in for a Lexus in couple year

Instead of getting a body matched handle panel, just body match the emblem. :thumb:
