I have the toytec ultimate and nfab steps- the wife likes it and my 3 year old likes crawling up the step into his carseat. I like the look way better than running boards.

They offer no protection like sliders though. I think budbuilt bump outs are in my future. Distant future since I'm still slightly in the doghouse for the Gobi I just ordered.

Depending on your overall use for the vehicle, Nfabs are a good compromise. My wife gets in and out relatively easy and my 3 year old also enjoys climbing in and out.

Just got the metal tech sliders installed yesterday. This will be a help to my lady friends who need that little extra assistance. Love the look of them. The sliders to.

I have the BB Bump-outs without the tread plate. The are pretty high but the whole family uses them as a step. My wife is worried about catching a heel and face-planting off the truck but after a year it still hasn't happened. In hindsight I probably should've gone full tread plating with them but I think they look better without. One our girls slipped a foot through the bump out once but it didn't really even slow her down. Also, I have personally witnessed the protection from other drivers doors, which I think can be attributed to them mounting high on the truck. I would highly recommend them for that reason in and of itself!

I like how the suggestions run about 50/50 between good practical advice vs. suggestions that will lead to getting slapped in the face, divorce, financial ruin, or all three, ha! I think I am going to go with a combination of miniskirts as suggested by [MENTION=6163]phillyd2[/MENTION] and the regular budbuilt sliders with a bolt-on step that can be removed, cool solution thanks [MENTION=85423]Greg_Canada[/MENTION]. I kinda like the rig to look at stock as possible even though it will be stuffed with mods. Good pick [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION], off topic but I just did the cupholder mod, drilling into Toyota plastic made me feel good deep down inside in a way I never thought possible.

I keep my stock running boards because of wife. Besides they offer a little bit of protection - they make a loud noise when getting hit by rocks, so you have time to stop and re-think your actions : )

Bump, finally got the RRO sliders properly mounted, and added the street taco step for the Mrs., here are a couple of pics if anyone is thinking about adding these. I bought a set of 4, but in consideration of the fact I have to pop these off for off roading I only put one on. Looks a little wonky/uneven with only one? I will probably sell the other two on the forum and keep an extra.
