Wife's 4Runner Modification

So the wife did some modifications (2K) to the vehicle. Any chance that the dealer will install trail headlights vs Limited?

By the way, I would not, ever, purchase a camry (totaled).

Damage was done from my wife accelerating from a stop to impact (~10ft). Some how they didn't "see" each other? HOW THE HELL? No injuries, thank the lord but they vehicle is down for two weeks.

Mine has there are 3 Camry's in my family, they are great cars! And while they are not trucks, they hold up pretty good in all areas, damage, value, maintenance.

Anyway, glad everyone is all right!! Whats 2K? How many miles you have?

The Dealer will most probably not replace your lights with a different model, what you can do is ask to cash out for your lights, as in they don't repair that part and just give you cash and you can turn around, buy the light and pay them to install it .. Though, doesn't hurt to ask.

2K is referring to the the cost of the damage to the 4runner. I am pretty impressed how the 4runner held up after my wife decided to ram another car. The camry definitely didn't take it very well.

That looks like more than $2k to me. Bumper skin, passenger fender, grill, headlight. Must have been just the initial estimate. My guess it will go up quite a bit as they start work on the truck.

Looking a little more at the pictures, I'm surprised that the Camry is totaled. Looks like 2 replacement doors and some paint. Must have been an old car or a fairly trashed car to begin with.

Camry is a REALLY DEPENDABLE car. However, the reason why that Camry was totaled is bc it looks to be quite a bit older. With the value of the car any damage that exceeds a certain percentage total over it's value is going to render it done for. Having said that, the value of the car might not have been a whole lot seeing how it looks to only need a couple new doors, hub cap, minor body work, and some paint. Would it be too ironic for your to purchase their camry from insurance and fix it up? lol

Agreed, I have got a similar damage, fixed in $7K (not paid by my insurance).

I know stuff's more expensive in Canada, but there's no way all that can be fixed for 2k. That's gotta be a preliminary estimate. I look at these estimates every day and either yours is low or I'm getting hosed daily.

Normally your headlights won't be replaced unless they're scratched or broke in some way. If so, let the estimate go to the shop and then go direct to them to ask them to order TE headlights vs. ltd. I can't see there being a big price difference if any at all. If so, just pay the difference. If you're shop wont do that much for you take it to another.

The only thing it hasn't held up to is the love bugs here. They are pretty acidic.

The repair shop said they are predicting more damage once they start pulling parts off. Airbags didn't deploy. Impact was under 10mph.

When i wrecked my bimmer they let me get a whole m3 clip and upgraded lights and all. I worked with the body shop to source the prices lower than or equal to the estimate. If they are any more id be almost certain youd have to pay the difference or be stuck with the stock ones.

Agreed- $4k-$5k is my guesstimate.
