will 285/70/17 fit with only spacers?? please help guys

Hey guys sorry to start a thread on this but I've looked everywhere to see if these will fit. I have stock 17 in rims. 04 4wd.. I have coil spacers 2.5 front 1.5 rear.. trying to get biggest tires possible. Will the 285/70/17 fit with just this lift or do I need more and wheel spacers. Thanks guys any info is greatly appreciated.

They'll fit with lots of trimming and cutting.
 
I ran the 2.5" front spacer and no rear spacer for a couple months to clear 285/70/17's. Unloaded it was level and looked really good IMO. In addition to the spacer I had to remove the front mudflaps, trim the front bumper, trim rear mudflaps. On road it didn't rub. Off road it rubbed a lot, mostly in the rear thought. Since your going to run the rear spacer it should be fine. You will probably need to run wheel spacers or aftermarket rims with more offset to keep from rubbing the front upper a-arm.

I should add that I wouldn't go the spacer route unless it's for on road use or very temporary and/or you are getting the spacer kit used for a good price like myself. After one 3 day trip off road I quickly realized Toyota did not have offroad performance in mind with the oem struts/shocks and springs.

For $190 shipped you can pick up a set of 2.5" bilstein height adjustable struts for the front and for another $200 you can get 2" lift rear spring to match. You will want to upgrade your rear shocks but if money is tight you can do it later down the road. I know it's more than the spacer kit but I think you will be a lot happier with the ride. What? Why wouldn't you go the spacer route?
My stock XREAS does fine offroad. I only have a cheap daystar spacer lift too.

This is my DD so I don't want ridiculous tires - I'll be going 265/70 or 255/75 on 17's. I can't afford 285s with my commuting.

That's what I had a 2.5" daystar front spacer. Why? Because the stock springs and struts are too soft. I was rubbing and hitting the bump stops all weekend. It was very annoying.

Yeah they're a little soft, but I don't think I've ever clunked on the bump stop or had a rubbing issue. :confused:

I will agree with this. I've had a couple of Ford Rangers, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wranglers, etc. and my wheeling buddy has always run Tacomas. I have never been in a 4x4 with springs and shocks as soft as the 4Runner.

It's as clear as daylight that on highway comfort for the yuppie crowd was priority #1 when the Japanese engineers sat down to design the suspension for the 4th gen 4R.

I'm running Bilsteins up front and spacers in the rear. I'm surprised at how soft the front still is. The ideal way to tackle a lift on these rigs would be Old Man Emu coil springs...but I didn't have the coin for that.
 
I am currently in the same situation with my 05'. I am running 285/70/17 stick rims, I tried mounting without the spider trax and they wouldn't even clear the UCAs. You need the wheel spacers for sure. I have 2.5 inch too spacer and fj coils. The height works just fine. You will also need to push in the fender wells and trim about an inch or so off the corner of your bumper where the liner used to attach.
