Will a 2" lift from a non 99 still lift 2''?

We all know the 99 was the tallest, and I believe it's the 01-02 was the lowest(?). So, if a 2" lift came off an 02, will it still lift my 99 2"?

I feel sorta dumb, but at the same it kind of makes sense?

☺ If I'm not mistaken the only difference was the Springs between the years, the 1999 having a taller spring.

Example: If I put 1999 springs in my 1997, I'll have the same "lift" as the 1999.

And then there's always the argument that a 2" lift will depend on what your carry, bumpers, gear, etc.

Ask what the hub to fender measurements were and compare to what you are currently at. That's the only way to know for sure because springs sag over time so he may have gotten 2 inches because his springs sagged an inch and he then netted 2 inches of lift when it would have normally gotten him 1 inch if his original springs weren't sagging.

I see. That makes sense, but with that logic, if a lift lifted your 97 2'', but my 99 was already and inch taller than your 97, wouldn't it not lift me as much ?

Assuming stock factory heights (not sagging) then yes, it will lift a 99 1 inch less than a 97.

99 talls your at 21" ~ hub to fender
All others your at 20" hub to fender.

If you have a 99 with the talls you basically already have a 1" lift.

The answer is, it depends. May lift you 1”, or 2”, or possibly even 3”. How much are your current springs sagged? How much wear and sag is on the 2” lift components? Only way to know for sure is to install and see what happens. All the lift manufacturers will tell you that individual results will vary.

Pretty much, any original stock spring nowadays isn't going to be worth it.

99 Talls are 'code' for a certain height of spring when buying them new, but looking specifically for a '99 4Runner in 2019 because it'll be 1-2 inches taller is a waste of time. It'll be just as squat as the rest of the stock spring 4runners around.

An 01-02 that's been lifted 2 inches will be as tall as a factory height (read: good springs) stock 99. So if your 99 springs are original and your rear is dragging in the mud, then you should just restore your ride to factory height.

everyones experience with the above is different.

I have a 99 with 285k when I bout it the guy was sitting at 21" in front and 21.25 in rear. original springs. Now lifted on 5100. and I still use the same front springs set on 4 of 5 perches of the 5100. gives me 3" of lift and I run aftermarket skid plates.


Yes the rear didn't handle any weight with out sagging.
