I am considering swapping out the base stereo in my 2010 SR5. I was wondering if the 2014 or newer head units will work in the 2010. Has anyone does this? Any issues? Thanks Phil

yes it will work, there was a thread about a retro fit.

I picked up a 2016 version of the headunit. Install was simple, much easier than I envisioned. I picked up a headunit for $130 off of Offerup. I got the wiring harness, the antenna and the USB cord mentioned in the links above. I didn't get the back up camera adapter or the xm radio plugs since I am not using them right now. I am not sure that I needed the USB cord since there was already one in the 4Runner. Is there a difference? I ended up using the new one for now. I will try to add a couple of photos. I got the whole system back together and realized that I had forgotten to plug in the climate control. I took everything out and started over. The in and out took about 2 minutes. Best $130 plus plugs that I have ever spent on a vehicle. Thanks again for the links. Phil

ps I forgot that I had a CD in the unit that I removed. Is there any easy way to power it to remove the CD without reinstalling it?
