Will a leveling kit void our warranties ?

If I install a 1 inch leveling kit in the front, will it void my warranty ?

Read about the Magnuson-moss act. Basically they can only deny warranty on parts directly affected by the modification.

So your suggestion is to remove the spacer lift, realign the truck to take it to the dealer, and then reinstall said lift and realign again? Every time warranty work is needed? No way.... take it in as is and unless the problem that you are taking it in for is obviously caused by the lift you will be fine and they will cover the repairs. I am a tech at a dealership and unless it's blatantly obvious and provable that the modification has caused the failure, the service manage will usually authorize the repair to retain the customer/bring in the warranty revenue, even though the technician looses pay. Customer pay is on average 50% better than warranty pay.... The customer can decline the work and go elsewhere. Warranty keeps the work at the dealer....

Every situation is dependant on the aftermarket accessory and issue. If voiding a warranty is a big deal stick with simple stuff that can be reversed. For warranty work remove the spacer then reinstall. Not sure why you would need an alignment after you reinstall it but I have lifetime alignments so not a big deal. I have all my stock parts for warranty if something happens.

You get one free alignment under warranty within the first 12 months of ownership. You will void that with the spacer. All other warranty issues will depend on your problem and how willing the service manager is in helping you out.

Personally....I void the warranty on every thing I own. :nod:

Maybe have the dealer install it? You can at least call the dealer you would use for any warranty work and ask them.

PS. It does not need to be the same dealer you bought the rig from.

The only warranty it might void is the front suspension and possibly the front CV joints. Those parts are dirt cheap, so I personally would not worry to much about voiding the warranty on a front ball joint or control arm - that's not going to fail in the first 36,000 miles anyway. Personally - I didn't think twice about it.

Like others said, it should only impair warranty on items directly effected by the modifications.

That being said, if someone doesn't have the funds available to pay for most any repair needed, and the 4runner is their sole method of transportation, I don't know that I'd take that risk. Good chance you'd be fine, but always the possibility that you get some screwy dealership that denies it and you have to take it up with Toyota or even potentially just not have it covered.

People can quote the magnuson-moss act all day long, and it's justified, but I can promise you 100% that vehicle manufacturers have voided engine/transmission claims due to lifts and tires.

Odds are probably 99.9% at stake, but I'd make sure to cover all my bases in the event it did happen.

FYI, I bout my 2017 4runner two weeks ago, already installed big heavy 285/70r17's and my 3" lift is in the mail, in case that tells you my comfort of lifting it.

Maybe the question to ask is how many people have actually had a claim denied due to a level or lift kit?
