Gotta ask yourself, if the dealers in your area pretty much carry only 2wd then why do you want the 4wd, here in NY the dealers don't carry 2wd and if you want 1 it actually cost more then a 4wd.
I've seen more then enough 4wd trucks in this area that have never been shifted into 4wd, just last winter someone was driving a 3rd Gen SR5 4Runner going up this steap ass hill covered in snow, of course their was a real brain behind the wheel, lets take the left lane on a hill (cause it was just plowed)where if someone comes over the top soon as they see you they hit you, I stayed back actually came to a stop on a steep incline, still if someone came over the hill I would have cushioned the crash, after the truck got to the top I stomped on it and flew up the hill and the 2 other behind me followed, I let the 3rd Gen get to an opened section of road and I flew past it as well as the 2 behind me.
Incase your wondering, the 3rd gen would have never made it up the hill on the unplowed surface and even driving on the plowed oncoming lane he was moving at 5-10mph and the right rear was spinning, I never stopped to help them out, had a prior appointment to go eat with friends
