Will not crank

Here it is the battery is dead but no big deal I put my battery charger on it, and when I turn the key on all of the relays start buzzing or growling just making all kind of noise. I can turn on the blower for the heat/air the buzzing stops.

When I try to start it the starter growls and will not engage I have checked all the grounds under the hood thinking that might be it but all good. All the fuses look good I thougt it might be to low of amps at 40 so I put my charger to start 200 amps and the same thing hapens just louder buzzing. Crazy I have never seen this happen.I havent even been able to pull start it eather any help would be great

Go pull your starter and get it tested.

starter relay is probably bad stick a new one in and you should be good, if thats not it your not out much. if its buzzing then its not engaging.

This is a 3.0 V6 4 Runner with 5 spd

ooo then you may be looking at a bad ground!
or the fuse main block may have issue in that case youll be hunting gremlins for weeks!

Yep I think your right but I have checked/cleaned the grounds under the hood.I didnt know if someone has seen this happen yet or not thought someone might give me a place to start looking.I know that 90% of the time electrical problems is in the ground.

Did u try starting with the clutch cancel button? Will it start if u pop the clutch?

yep tried that to funny thing is when I push and hold the clutch button the buzzing sound changes a bit,and the clutch button light will not stay on like it should.I will make a video so you can hear what Im talking about.

Well good news and bad news.Good news got it to crank and start yepie :zoom: .I just got thinking about the way all the relays and starter was making noise thought it was ground right... nope my battery charger was only putting out 10.6V aahaa not ground but low voltage.ERRRRRR. Now the bad news I just bought this truck on Friday hoping it would run so I could put the motor in my sons 89 4 Runner well it did but it sounds like a bad rod or broken piston:uzi:.So out it will come and rebuild, just depends how bad the inside looks to what all I will have do it.Happy but sad Thanks for all the help guys

Glad you found the problem. Symptoms above are very typical of very dead battery- Even on other vehicles.
For simple trucks like our classic 4Runners, a basic multi-meter, combined with our senses are often enough to troubleshoot issues.
