Wind Noise - Driving Me Crazy

[2016 4Runner SR5]

(Hope I'm not breaking the rules by hijacking, I'm new and can't make my own posts yet. This was the most recent wind noise related thread I could find...) My new (to me) 2006 SR5 has some wind noise that sounds like it's coming from around the windshield. Only noticeable at 65+. Upon investigating I noticed the windshield molding/weatherstripping was missing the vertical strip on the passenger side. I'm guessing that's the source of the noise. It's been raining the last couple of days and doesn't appear to be leaking, but the noise is aaf.

The windshield's not OEM. I don't know if the noise is just from the missing molding or if the windshield itself was poorly installed and might not be properly sealed. There is a bulge in another section of the windshield molding. Any advice on how to proceed?

Also, I'm away from home atm. Considering getting back home before I address this. Would I be risking my windshield flying off on the highway?

This is a 5th gen thread, you're looking for info on the 4th gen. Do a little searching and post in the 4th gen section. You'll likely have a lot more luck that way.

Issue Resolved

So after months of trial and error - it came down to a bad windshield installation!

i actually watched the guy replace my windshield, but never thought if what he was doing was right or not --- until I saw this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1hgkypTzg4) -- this video shows the proper way of a windshield replacement. The guy who replaced my windshield didn't even remove those plastic pieces from underneath the windshield wipers! And -- he just cut the windshield wiper defroster harness (and tucked it back down so that they wouldn't stick out)!

Anyway, I manage to hunt down the guy in the video (Luis Hernandez - Owner of VIDRIOKAR) and had him install a new windshield. He said the root cause of the previous install was that the windshield was set too high -- due to the previous guy not taking off those plastic pieces under the wipers! Luis said it was sloppy - and lazy workmanship!

One other thing that Luis did, that is not shown in the video, he used a leak detector -- he placed some contraption in the dash, then had some headphones on and went around the windshield with some wand -- imagine the contraption he placed on the dash was transmitting some sort of sound that the wand would pick up -- if there was a leak (air).

Anyway -- just thought I'd share the video in case you have your windshield replaced - make sure they follow similar steps.
