Window control modules

I am swapping liftgates, the "new" one is off a '98, going onto a 2000. The window control modules have different connections and wiring configurations. I was told I need to keep the 2000 unit with the truck. Is this true? I really don't want to take the wiring harnesses off and swap them. Or does anyone know someone with very very small hands I can rent for a while to do this if necessary? Thanks

Keyword is "told". Solution is to verify... Find schematic of 1998 and 2000. compare. if you do not know how to compare, post them here so others can help.

You could probably match up rear defrost, window, rear lock and wiper functions, but I'm pretty sure you can say good-bye to your keyless entry. In '98, that feature was a port add-on. In 2000, it was built in to the Body ECU at the factory and the receiver was built in to the rear door module. The '98, even if the donor truck had the add-on, will not include the receiver in the rear door module. Swap the modules if you want keyless entry.
