Window Master switches - waterproof?

We have a 3rd Gen 4Runner and going to upgrade to a new 2022. I can't for the life of me think of WTF Toyota was thinking when the moved the window/door lock switches to the top of the door...at least the Tacoma got it right!

Even with our 3rd Gen Master window/door lock switch mounted lower on the door panel, it still managed to short out after water repeatedly dropped on it when opening the window with any dew or water on the roof of the vehicle. It eventually dried out and started working again after a few months, but was a big PITA until then and not a cheap part to replace.

Did Toyota do a better job waterproofing the 5th Gen 4Runner window switches, or do we have to drive around a bit to get the wind to blowdry the roof before I crack the windows?

The switches are not water proof. Window visors help.

Different switch but a friend spilled water onto my seat heater controls and the driver side locked on to full heat. I was able to remove it and shake it dry but I'm assuming the window switches are not waterproof but I haven't had an issue with them.

Geeze, would think they would be a little better, being close to a cup holder.

It seems Toyota doesn't really know how to work out details like that. They can place them in the center dash like in the limited and Pro Bro but they don't just like the terrible rear window switch position. There's a useless cubby though.

In my 2010 Tacoma, the ATRAC button that was not visible was lighted but the 4wd knob in front of your face was not.
