Does anyone know what the % is on the factory window tint? I want to tint my front windows at 20% and I'm trying to figure out what % to tint the back windows to even things out.

20% will match almost perfect.....It will look a little lighter if you have the sunroof shade open and or just the light from the front windshield but its very close.

National Lampons A Christmas Vacation.........CLASSIC!:thumb3:

Really, around 25%? they look like 40% to me.
Not really concerned with the laws. I have a get out of jail free card.:reddance:

So I've read someone thinks the windows are 25% and someone thinks they are 40%. Does anyone have a definitive answer? The backs look like 35% if you ask me but I'm not sure. I want to tint my front 20% but I want to know what the back factory tint is before I do that.

why dont you just ask them to measure what the back is tinted to when you go in to get the front windows done, this isnt rocket science

The back windows are 20%. I got the fronts of mine done in 35% and I don't think it looks bad. I just wanted the cops to see that there was some sort of contrast between the front and the back :wink2:

20%? Wow. I had 20% on my old car and it looked a lot darker than what the Limited has. That's suprising to me. I think I'm going to put 20 on the front.

Here is a picture of 20%. Make sure they match the color of the tint to the factory as well.

When I had my 30% Huper Optik tint installed they used a light meter and was reading 24-25%. I watched them do it.They used the same meter the cops use to check tints they said.

I'll be getting 38% added this Friday. The odd percentage is to allow for Oregon law, which states the max tint of the film and window combined must not be greater than 35%. I'll post pictures when its done.

FormulaOne by LLumar, ceramic, 35% driver and passenger windows, 80% windshield with a mild blue tint. We used to cook inside when the sun came out, but now the temperature change is barely noticeable. I can't even tell the windshield is tinted and had to feel for the edge of the film when the first installed it. Once it dried, there were no distortions at all.

Hey Mike, do you mind if I ask how much that tint job set you back?

$150 for both doors, $160 for the windshield. I used Accutint in Everett as they did our PT Cruiser and actually take the time to cut test strips and ask what I want rather than just plaster on what they think looks good. Some people love the limo tint, some (like me) don't.

Thanks, just trying to get an idea what others are paying. Also, you said you went 35% on the front side windows? Do you notice a big difference, from inside and from the outside? 35% is all Missouri allows and I'm sure the pictures don't do justice. Thanks Mike.

They initially wanted to do 20%, but it was clearly darker than the rear window when you looked out from the inside. This was the same problem we initially had with the PT. So the choice is either to darken the rear to a set percentage and match the front film to that, or go lighter to match the color and appearance from inside.

Were I still living in Las Vegas or Phoenix, I would have gone darker all around and tried 50% on the windshield. Here in the Puget Sound area, we usually have some bit of cloud cover, with a fully sunny day on a random day in July. This year I think it falls on a Tuesday. So we can do just fine with the lower tint and avoid the PoPo issues.

To rebring up an old thread i am getting the itch to tint the fronts... anyone do this formula one besides SeattleMike (RIP)??? hoping for some advice.. got quoted 100 bucks to do the 2 fronts in the pinnacle formula one ceramic....

I had mine done locally in Hartford, CT and paid $105 (with a coupon). So I think you are right in the ballpark as far as pricing goes. They used the same high end (guaranteed for life, blah, blah, blah) tint. I had mine done with 20% as I thought it looked much nicer than the awkward 35%. :D
