window tinting help car temps?

So my car gets crazy hot inside even on the mildest of day temps. I have an edgestar 12v fridge that gets so hot on the outside that it seems to run all day. Even with 85w solar the battery start getting drained by the end of the day.

Im planning on tinting my windows in the next few days and I was wondering if you guys that increased the stock tint and added tint on windows. Did your vehicles still get crazy hot or did it seem to help?

Im also throwing the idea around of adding insulation to the roof.

Of course, tinting, would help. A lighter colored truck would also reflect more of the suns rays. reflective tint would help more but is illegal in the U.S.

If parked, use "reflectix" on all windows. Available at Home Depot, etc. Sometimes, after an early morning kayak fishing trip, I would wait for my other friends to come later for recreational kayaking. With reflective window shades on and windows vented, I can comfortably nap in my truck at the parking lot.

Ceramic tint is also a great thing. It blocks a lot of heat and keeps the UV rays off the interior, but it is very pricey. I've got it on my other car and love it. I even had the windshield done really light to keep the interior in perfect shape.

exactly what i was coming in here to say. The right kind of tint will help with heat. Cheap tint will just make it dark and hot.

I also had my windows tinted with ceramic tint from Llumar and I noticed a big difference in hot my 4runner was. It gets pretty hot in the FL sun, and it will still be warm when I get in, but nowhere near as hot as it used to be. I had the pretty much clear 80% tint put on the windshield, and then I think it was 10% on the passenger/driver windows, and then 35% around all the rear windows.

It also seems like when you put the A/C on, you don't need to keep it blasting when it's hot outside as it stays cooler for long with the tint rejecting a lot of the heat. The interior temperature is just more controlable. I would definitely do it again--you just have to make sure you get film installed that will reject heat, as not all types of film will, apparently.
