Window vents

Is there a thread for window vents? I couldn’t find one but know I’ve read the discussion on it.

I got the AVS stick on ones today. Any advice on doing this?

I’m a little ocd about straight and even lines so wanted to check prior to putting them on.

I prefer the in-channel ones (like WeatherTech) over the stick on ones. They cost a little more but they're worth it. Should also satisfy your OCD nicely too, especially if you ever want to take them off and you're left with a sticky mess you'll be spending the next couple hours trying to get off.

But if you do use them I would advise measuring or lining them up where you want them then putting on some blue painters tape as a guide.

I got some of the sticky ones on mine and now somewhat regret it cause I didn't take into account that itll leave the sticky residue when I remove them...im trying to source out some oem ones.

I like the idea of not having rain drip all inside, but not sure if I really like the look of them.

I don't like the look of them either, but a necessity here in the PNW. That's the big reason I chose the in-channel style. A little lower profile style.

Mine came with those ones with double sided tape, and what a pain in the ass they were to remove. It took me a lot of elbow grease with an eraser wheel to get all that crap off, and you can still see where they were due to uneven fading.

[MENTION=175800]TrexRunnerGirl[/MENTION] If you do go with the stick-on tape style use 70% Isopropyl Alcohol to clean surface be it rubber or painted surface, will not damage either, before installing.
If you decide to remove them use same thing to remove sticky residue. Then wax paint or armoral rubber.
I'm not a fan of track type due to them working their way out of track, I've had better luck with stick ons.

They are dead sexy & 4runners look better with them and the hood rock guard. Otherwise the rain rolls right into your window. The ones on my 3RZ have been on there for 18 years. They go on super easy. No reason to take them off.
Every car I've owned since 1999 gets them. AVS brand that is.

I prefer the in-channel ones for looks, but if your in any type of dusty terrain you will get that dirt up in there and everytime you roll down and up you can hear it up in there, not to mention if it builds up over time and your not on top of cleaning it out you will have some window scratches.

the stick on ones don't have that issue like the above, and if you don't plan on ever removing them well why would you anyways? they are pretty cheap these days what 50 or so for all 4 doors id just let them go if I ever got rid of the vehicle.

I’m not sure about the hood one. I don’t really like it all that much.
I’ll get them on soon or pay someone to do it. The ADD is strong on that

why don't you make a mounting template then you will be worry free id skip the front one personally

would you be able to measure how far out they cover? outward from the window? been trying to find that info but had no luck.

If you don't like the hood protector you can wrap it with a clear bra. That's what I did.

Lol chicken, Here's what you do for the ADD. One person can do it, easier with two.
Get you a roll of blue painters tape, hold visor in place lay tape down as a positioning guide, peel the sticky protector off visor, put in place. it's not that hard face your fear.

Only pic I have of it. Can't really see it, but that's the whole point! Wanted protection, but personally don't like the looks of the bug shields.

I would steer clear of clear Bra. Why, it will get cloudy and you'll want to take it off. If you think getting sticky residue off from window vents is hell you aint seen nothin till you remove bra. My story 04 G35 had factory bra hood n fender fronts, front of rear wheel opening, by 06 it was done, days of mineral spirits was required to remove residue. Flash forward to this year had sport hood painted fenders blended. At tint shop I've used for years I asked about clear bra after painting. They said they don't do it anymore because too many customers complained of the fading getting cloudy, and that there aren't any brands that won't fade or start cracking as they age. Though they did say tech advances have moved the life span to around 5 yrs or so, depends how much time it spends in the sun. Took them at their word.
