winter cold starts

toyota called and they said that it is normal..?? i am thinking about getting a remote starter. any suggestions? does any one have an opinion on this? thanx

Thai has a good suggestion with the block heater and adding a remote starter is also a good idea. I live north of you and -30 weather is common for us in winter. There's no better feeling than pushing a button to start the truck while staying inside. Since we also get hot summer days, I also start the motor in the summer allowing the air conditioner to cool off the inside before going out into the heat.
I've had my remote starter now for approx 4 years and wouldn't go without it. My model brand is AUTOSTART. It comes with a 2 button remote; one for the doors and one for the engine. Other option it has is on cold nights if desired, it'll start the engine during the night occasionally just to warm it up and then shut itself off. You can also remove the keys from the ignition and let the engine run while you go into the convenience store for an errand. It also locks the doors when you first apply the brakes to put it in gear and then unlocks the doors when you turn off the engine.
My starter has been as reliable as my truck and would recommend one to anyone living in cold winter areas.
