Wire Size for a Power Converter

I have a 600 watt power converter that I'm trying to wire up. It came with some 4 gauge wire, but I'm wondering if I can get away with 8 gauge for wiring this? I don't plan on pulling more than 100 watts at any giving time, and that's being very generous.

I'll only need to run about 3' before I reach the distribution block. Any thoughts on using 8 gauge for this instead of 4 gauge.

Out of curiosity, why not just go with the 4ga?

Because I can use that 4 gauge to run from my dual battery into the cab for my BlueSea distribution block. Either way I'm going to need to buy more wire, but wasn't sure on what size I really needed.

If you have to purchase wire anyway, I'd probably stick with the 4ga. There's no need to find out you don't have enough ga. thickness for your inverter. I thought you might be limited to your distribution block because it only allowed for 8ga and not 4ga.

I should have figured this wouldn't be easy. We're not going to have much in the way draw from the inverter. The biggest draw will be a tablet, and everything else will only be for charging small electronics. I could very easily get away with a 200 watt inverter, but the one I have was free. I wonder if I should just get a smaller inverter so I can run smaller wire.

If you have the bigger one don't downsize. The one time you need it you will be glad to have the extra power.

At 3' you gonna be fine with 8.
