Hi gang,
Been thru some very helpful prior threads on this, but still have some q's.
Like many others, I've recently bought a trailer and had fuse-blowing episodes. A $3 plug-in trailer-wiring detector only detected a working left blinker coming from the 4Runner. After a while, the 1997 4Runner's typical brake light and shifter fuse would blow when hooked up to the trailer.
The many posts were helpful in advising to replace the stock trailer wiring with the Hopkins kit, but I cannot figure or find how to remove the existing trailer wiring, pictured. As much as I pull from above or below it's very difficult. From underneath (see pic), the wiring loom disappears into the frame on the driver's side, and not sure how it is all fixed on the frame/or otherwise. I want to remove that beeotch, but it appears that I'd have to take off the rear bumper to get better access to it. Gah!
From above, with the hatch open, and the driver's side rear interior panel peeled away, I still have difficulty pulling, moving, etc. the bad, existing assembly. Any tips?
