I have a 96 manual 4x4... My select switch does not engage the 4x4, so i went to a proffessional auto electrician and he tells me that i have the wrong engine harness on it. He said my harness is for the manual transfer case with high 4 and low 4 but my actual transfer case is auto select switch with the high and low 4. Any way i can manually make the 4x4 work or is anyone selling a harness with the select switch harness on their wiring harness? Please help

It sounds like you vehicle might have been rebuilt from a wreck. My neighbor used to buy wrecked vehicles then cut off the front or back, which ever was damaged, then weld on a new "clip" that he got from a wrecking yard and re-sell it as a good vehicle. I don't know if he ever replaced a wiring harness but I'd look for more serious problems if I were you.

Regardless of how it came to be, you still have an unanswered question. I would say you have three options for fixing the harness.
First option: Dealership. Obviously, this will be the most expensive, but it will get you a brand new harness.
Second option: Junk yard. You can find some pretty good condition items in junk yards, and pay very little for them. Now with that small invention known as the internet, you can search databases nationwide to find just what you need (try www.car-part.com).
Third option: You can look in the wiring diagrams, and determine the differences between the two (for the automatic & manual), and make what ever changes you need to make to existing wiring. If needed, add wires and run them to the switch etc according to the wiring diagram. You can order pins & plugs from dealerships.
Also, when I mention dealerships, I honestly wouldn't use my local dealership. I would go online to 1sttoyota, & others, simply because their prices will be lower than walking in to your local dealership.
I'm all for supporting my local businesses, but when it comes to getting ripped off, I draw the line. I'd much rather go to a 'mom & pop' store than Walmart anyday. But money doesn't grow on trees, and I'm not too keen on just giving it away.

wire harness clips
I have a simple question, I think. I'm opening the area of the throttle control, ect, and there are a number of these Denso wire clips that need to be 'unclipped'. I think I see how they should be disconnected, but I'm also sensitive to breaking plastic parts. Do you simple pry open ( upward ) the plastic clip? Or do these require a special tool or some other trick?

Has never worked since ive had it. Still doesnt. Everybody wants to much for theirs and i cant find them at junkyard that easily. Been searching at least once a week. Everyone only has auto trany harness
