Awesome Josh! Glad to see you got a 4th gen to build a jig off of. These things are going to be really popular. I LOVE my 3rd gen rack and the build quality is top notch. Josh was also a great guy to deal with and I would not hesitate buying a product from him again.

I didn't see anything through reading in this thread it may be in your 3rd gen thread. Just curious if a powder coat or at least a good primer coat is a avialable pre shipped? not really deterring me from an order just curious.
whenever I go on cruises it's usually out of Florida maybe I can park my truck at your place for you to do some measuring with it while I'm bonvoyage lol who know's I'll certainly keep your business in mind if i can help with info I'd be glad to.
bumpers and skids are first in line for my steel additions so i'll have to put this off for a bit but I'm certainly looking your way when i purchase a rack very nice price and looks great additionally seems to be some quality work!

I have no powdercoating option available since the shop near me is outrageous and im certainly not setup to do it in-house.

makes since, and probably why purchasing from other company's is as costly as it is. least buying it bare metal you don't have to worry about shipping damages lol.

Exactly, nothing worse than unwrapping your brand new, scratched up toys. I'm a big fan of diy bedliner. have it on my bumpers and rack with no issues.

To help generate a little interest and some much needed customer photos I'll put these on an introductory sale of sorts. The standard rack will be 595 and take 20 bucks off the add-on- full flooring or insert, crossbars will still be 40ea if desired. I need pictures of these on roofs!!:thumb:

Can you provide a measurement from the base of the mount point to to the top of the rail above it, and from the center of the roof to the highest point on the rack (assuming that's the top rail at the very front)?

Sorry but the truck is no longer with me. The measurement from the front mount plate to the top of the top tube directly above it is 5-1/16". i would estimate the highest point of the rack to be no more than 4-1/2" off the highest point of the roof.
The insert is hinged in the rear and bolted up front, its removed by unbolting, lifting up, then sliding to the left to separate the hinge,

However, I was wondering if you had weight ratings figured out? I didn't see anything listed in this thread and I'm just curious if you had an exact number.
Also, can you explain a little more about the Sun Roof Insert? Since the 4Runner sun roof opens into the roof, why wouldn't people want the full floor, or at lease the rack insert?

Hey man,
Thanks for the kind words and thats exactly what I was hoping to achieve in building these racks! I'm smaller than small time, so I don't have an exhaustive testing regimen for the capacities of the rack. I have to go by what I have experienced from my 3rd gen builds and others. I know my wife and I can stand on mine with no issues at all, other than a little unavoidable flexing. Mind you, a human standing on the rack would represent a very unusual roof-rack loading situation as anything strapped to the roof will have a bigger foot print spreading the load more evenly. I'm confident that if loaded with some thought the rack will hold 350lb., possibly more. The insert is for people who like the idea of having the sunroof opening unobstructed as well as the option to load gear when they need to. For people with no plans to jump through the sunroof opening or stick their hands out, the full length floor option is the ticket, its cheaper and of-course fully welded and permanent.
