yep, anything to cover the tubes should do the trick. strange thing i found once: i wrapped my front top tube with a split piece of clear pvc tubing to carry a kayak, essentially making the tube's OD 1-1/4 and i swear the noise was lessened which makes me think its the tubes and their smaller one inch diameter.

Another trick I've seen people do is spiral wrap cord or small rope around the leading edges of the rack to give the tube an irregular, unsmooth surface which breaks up the air flow enough to quiet things. Never done it but a good number of reviews make it appear plausible.

Probably looks funky though.

Got mine installed. Very pleased with the quality of the rack and can't say enough about the customer service. All email were responded to promptly and it was delivered on time as promised(a rarity these days). Highly recommended if you are looking for a roof rack. I'll get some pics when I load it up with camping gear Oh, and I simply went with Rustoleum Bedliner in a can and think it turned out very nice. I did clean and prep it properly though, so I'm sure that helped. Don't rush it.

I mounted up a new ARB 2500 Awning to the rack for a trip this weekend. I used some angle brackets from Home Depot, cut the awning side down and plastidipped them real quick to prevent scratching from friction. The large holes were actually spaced perfect for the awning bolts and lines up with the mesh on the roof as well.

Great pictures and love the roof rack! I've had a pretty heavy stream of parts deliveries from Fed-Ex and UPS.... I suppose within the next month I might have to piss off the wife and order one. I just have a hard time short cutting this by ordering a Rola rack basket.

I tried a group buy with the introduction of the 3rd gen racks a while back at the suggestion of another member. It got kicked around for a good while and a portion of those who said they were interested eventually ordered, separately, minus the member who persuaded me to do a group buy lol. So, I'll hold off for now, I've been super busy with the orders I have now, any more and I'd have a meltdown lol.

You'll regret it when you see someone with a full rack. This rack is bigger and carries more weight than anything using the factory rails. This is the best deal going and I can't say enough good things about the quality and customer service.

Nope, its the same width front to back, its actually the mounting channel on the 4th gen roof that WIDENS towards the front, which is what makes these a little tricky and gave me ulcers setting up the jig. heres a finished photo of deedst4r's rack, you can see the mounts are obviously different and have the angles of the roof built into them.

What is the spacing between the cross members?
