Wobbling question

Not too experienced with steering and suspension so forgive my ignorance as I try to explain my problem to you guys.

I've recently noticed that while driving at highway speeds, I feel a very slight wobble in the steering wheel. It is difficult to describe but it is similar to the feeling you get in the steering wheel when you drive over grooved pavement--except this happens on normal pavement. I've asked passengers if they feel the car moving laterally along the road and they say no, so I think for now it can only be felt in the steering wheel.

My shocks and struts are due to be changed, but I think this might be something else. Any suggestions?

new tires mounted and balanced within last 500 miles. I'll do some research on tie rods

Jack up a front wheel into the air. Grab the wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock then push and pull (wobble) simulating the vehicle turning. if there is play, tie rods are bad. to check upper and lower ball joints, grab the tire at 12 and 6 o'clock with the same motion, pushing and pulling (wobbling) the tire feeling for play. Also do the same for the other front wheel.

Your problem can also be related to a worn steering rack guide, worn steering rack bushings, or you may simply need an alignment. This forum has great advise on diagnosing and repairing all of these possibilities.
