In theory yes, they would work. However, the top hat may not fit in to the mounts on our trucks. When we install the Tundra billies, we sometimes have to use the 4Runner tophats instead of the ones for the Tundras.
Also, if you did go with those, I would think you'd need to leave them at 0" of lift. The Tundra shocks we use now are 0" lift for Tundras, and give us +-2" of lift.

I really don't understand why they don't just make the coilovers with 4Runner tophats...I guess they don't want to chance that people won't like a coilover designed/valved/sprung for a Tundra, and now they've gone and put "4Runner" on the name and people are pissed they aren't specifically designed for the vehicle...
Do they make 4Runner tophats (Fox) that can be interchanged? That would at least help.

That's because of the TRD springs, not the shocks. If the shocks are by some margin longer, it isn't contributing more than 1/2" and is acting like a top plate spacer by extending the overall assembly length. Mostly the spring at work there though. Either higher spring rate or longer coil, or a combination of both that is providing the 4Runners with lift.
The ones MStudt linked are the ones you want, not the Tundras due to the top hat.

You would be better off with a coilover valved for a tacoma. Take a look at some Sway-a-Ways. they are about the same price if thats the issue.

You would need a different "top hat"/mounting bracket. Tundras are mounted with four bolts on top where a 4runner/Tacoma has mounting bolts.
Looking at the extended length of the coilover is important. The coilover shock you listed is 19.18," which is within 4runner length. So, in theory with the correct "top hat"/mounting bracket they could work. I agree with MTD. Better to buy something fitted for 4runner/Tacoma and not pay the expensive of a new "top hat"/mounting bracket.

The coilovers you linked can't be used on the 4Runner since the 1st gen tundra and 3rd gen 4Runner do not use the same bolt pattern on the front strut top mount.
That is unless these coilovers you linked have threaded holes for both bolt patterns.
I know for a fact Fabtech had done this with one of their coilovers.
Might be worth a call to Fox.
My current King coilovers only have threaded bolt holes to fit 3rd gen 4Runner / 1st gen Taco.

I don't know where you got your information from, but my FOX 2.5 coilovers are direct fit coilovers for the 4runner. The manual it comes with directly says 95.5-04 Tacoma & 96-02 4runner. Also any 1st gen Tacoma coilover will work with a 4runner.
I would not get Tundra coilovers as the top hat stud locations are different than 4runners. it will not work at all and cost more to "make" them work. Also an aftermarket Tundra shock will not ride as nice on our 4runner's. Bilstein 5100's aren't valved as aggressively as aftermarket coilovers and the ride wouldn't be ideal.

I've only been on the T4R forums for a bit (coming from a Tacoma background), but any information about Fox CO's not fitting 4runners or not providing 3" of lift is MISINFORMATION!!!
They DO fit.
They DO provide 3" of lift.
You DON'T have to replace or modify the top hats (all of the major / respected shock companies allow for up to 30deg of misalignment for top hat orientation).
Icon and Toytec just have better internet presence / marketing than most others out there.
Speaking of Icon, their top hat bolt orientation for their 3rd gen product is exactly the same as Fox. I've looked at and compared them side by side in person recently after reading some MISINFORMATION on the forums.

Please elaborate. You make some bold claims there and it's really unhelpful and potentially confusing for future buyers to just say to choose one over the other and call them junk. I don't find my FOX's junk whatsoever.

That doesn't explain your statement of Fox being "junk". All that means is that you pay attention to stickers on the side of the truck.
Race versus bolt on OEM kits are two very different setups despite being from the same manufacturer.
I think King is awesome, by the way.
